The last bell of the day sounded, signaling all the kids to rush from their classrooms. School was finally out. Kids all over Derry excited to stay up all night, eat junk food and most importantly not need to come back to the hell hole of school the next day.
All kids, except two that is. Riley and Keira, they're typical girls I guess you could say. Nothing extraordinarily out of the ordinary. Riley was a female basketball player for the school, and she was pretty good at it. Keira, the schools dancer. Prima ballerina herself in the flesh.
"Keira, when are we gonna ask them?" Riley questioned, spinning a basketball on her pointer finger. "I-," Keira started looking over at the group of losers. Particularly her eyes went to Stanley Uris, boy had he really pulled at her heart strings. Keira has a crush on him since the beginning Of the school year.
"I don't know." Keira finished grabbing the rest of her books from the silver and rusted locker. "It's gonna get pretty boring soon, ya know it just only being the three of us." Riley pointed out throwing her book bag over her shoulders. "I know, I know. Just, I promise we'll talk to them this summer." Keira replied closing the loser to door as their began heading out of the school.
"I'm holding you to your word on that'." Reilly chuckled thinking their was no way Keira would buck up and finally speak to them. As they walked passed the losers they waved, and said hi to them. To which they all waved back. "Does anyone ever think about how their the only girls or, only other kids really who wave to us and say hi?" Eddie brought up to his friends.
"I mean I guess, their pretty hot though." Richie smirked, fixing his glasses to get a better sight Of the girls. "I'm sure they don't say hi to us because of you Richie." Stan sneered rolling his eyes at Richie who just jutted out his middle finger. "guy, the b-barrens." Bill spoke.
That reminded the group as to what they, were going to be doing this summer. "Right." Stan mumbled. "Betty Ripsom's Moms." Eddie pointed out, all boys' eyes directed towards the mother. She'd sit outside the entrance of the school looking desperately for her missing daughter, she had been missing for a while now.
"Does she really expect to still see her coming out of the school?" Stan asked, slight sincerity in his voice. "I mean if she's been hiding in home Ec. For the last few weeks." Richie shrugged. "Do you think they'll actually find her?" Giving a concerned look to the rest of the boys. "Sure," Richie started. "In a ditch, all decomposed, covered in worms and maggots, smelling like eddie's mom's underwear." Richie smirked at The smaller boy.
"Shut up! That's fucking disgusting." Eddie Mumbled the last part. "She's not dead she's m-m-missing." Bill pointed out. An optimistic boy he was, having hope in every situation until factory proven otherwise. While some people, were loosing all hope. "Sorry, Bill. She's missing." Richie corrected himself, speaking off the sensitivity of this subject for Bill. His own brother going "missing" as well.
They dumped their book bags into the trash can, full of broken pencils, ripped papers and torn binders. As the group started to head out, they were attacked by bullies, but their personal ones...the Bowers gang. He pushed Richie into Stan, knocking them over. Patrick Hockstetter taking Stan's kippah, throwing it into a bus as it drove by.
Belch purpled into Eddie's face making him gag, knowing he was a certified hypochondriac. Bill's pent up anger from Henry and his group terrorizing them all them school year started really make him loose it. "You s-s-suck bowers." Bill spat. Catching the attention of Henry himself. "Shut up, Bill!" Eddie whisper yelled, fearing that this would put them in deeper shit.
"You say something? B-b-billy?" Henry Mocked his uncontrollable stutter as he approached him. Bill stood his ground with his glare to Henry, but did not say another word. "Look here. You had a free ride this year 'cause of your brother." Henry grinned shaking his head. "But, the ride's over, denbrough." Henry spat.
Out of the corner of Henry's eye he spotted his father, who was the sheriff. By then, he knew he had to make his current tormenting quick. "This summer's gonna be a hurt-train. For you and your faggot friends." Henry seethed licking his palm and smearing it on bill's cheek. As Henry and his gang left and jumped into a car to drive off.
"Wish he'd go missing." Richie spoke what pretty much everyone was thinking. "He's probably the one doing it." Eddie thought out loud.

"That's not a valid reason." Keira spoke setting up the card game, on Beverly's bedroom floor. "If liking one of them isn't motivation to finally talk to them, then what is?" Beverly asked with a confused shrug as she opened another bag of chips. "I tell her this all the time." Riley shook her head sipping her soda.
As for Riley, she didn't really like any of the boys in that group. She thought that Richie had a cute face but that was about it. She mostly focused on her sport more than guys. She worked hard at basketball for two reasons. One, simply because she loved the sport, and might even wanna do it professionally when she grows up.
And the less ambitious and heart warming reason. Two, because of her mother. She is always on Riley to be a "lady", to stop playing basket ball and be a "girl" for once. To trade her sneakers or heels, trade her shorts for dresses, trade her basketball for a cookbook. And frankly Reilly didn't want to do that.
She wanted to play basketball. Sitting at home cooking for a man who didn't even acknowledge her when she got home was NOT something Riley was interested in. And she never would be, ever. "Well, I think we should talk to them soon. They seem pretty cool to me." Riley spoke as they started playing the game.
