The Explanation

He stood speechless in front of Alex. She didn't say anything. Aaron doesn't say anything. It's quiet.

Alex is the first to break the silence. "What in the name of hell are you?!"

There is silence after she asked the question.

"Well? What the hell are you?"

"It's hard to explain."

"Can you sum it up?" She raised her eyebrows.

"I know this must seem crazy, and trust me it is. That group of people that just kidnapped you, that's Phoenix. They hunt my kind and have been hunting them for years. What just happened back there, what I just did," he stopped and thought of a way to explain his special abilities to her, "was use these powers my kind has. Phoenix calls us Elementals because we can control one out of the four elements, plus lightning but having power over that isn't common. Then the teleporting thing is just a given."

"Who is Phoenix?" Alex asked, more confused

"Phoenix is a secret organization that has been hunting my kind for ten years. Ever since we started breaking out, these people have been trying to eliminate us."

"Breaking out what the hell does that mean?" Alex was getting more and more confused.

Aaron sighed, "I can't explain everything now, I guarantee you that more guards are on the way to kill us. So if you wanna die, you can keep asking me questions, or we can both live and teleport out of here." He held out his hand towards her, "Well?"

Alex grabbed his hand, "This better not mean I'm a freak like you."

"We should leave."

"Okay," Alex grabbed his hand again, "take me away superboy."

Aaron was out of breath, that huge bolt of lightning he used to defeat those guys had taken a lot out of him, and then teleporting two people had drained him even more. They found themselves back in the school. "We're going to have to sneak out the front doors."

Alex rolled her eyes and followed him out of the school into a near by park. "Okay, now tell me why you can shoot lightning bolts out of the palms of your hands like the Avatar and why there're people who can pop out of thin air."

Aaron ran his fingers through his hair, "I don't know the exact science, no one really knows it. One day, it just happens to you and the Elementals send someone to teach you how to control your powers."

Alex was wide eyed, "Were you sent for me? Am I like the freaking Avatar now? I literally just moved here, I don't need people thinking I'm already a freak."

Aaron held his hands in front of her, "Calm down. You aren't one of us, normally we can sense when another one of us are near. I get nothing from you."

"So then why did they kidnap me?"

"I don't know, but we'll find out."

Alex's breathing slowed, "So how do I know if I'm one of you?"

"Well, we all have a birthmark on ourselves. At first it looks like a normal old boring birthmark, but around the age of ten it starts changing, forming into a new shape. Mine hasn't really taken a form yet, which is rare, but the others tend to look like a certain element, air, water, fire, earth, and maybe lightning."

Alex rolled her sleeve up, "Does the mark on my arm look like something?"

"No."

She let out a sigh of relief, "Thank god. So, these Phoenix people chase you?"

"Yup, cause they're cowards and are afraid of what we can do."

"So," Alex walked closer to Aaron, "what can you do?"

"You know how you mentioned the Avatar before?"

"Yeah, why?"

Aaron smiled, "Well I'm basically the less bald, cooler version of him with a bow."

"So why are you a loner?" Alex said out of the blue.

Aaron gave her the, what the fuck, why would you ask that, look. He answers anyway, "So that the people I care about don't get hurt because that has happened to me way too much."

"So if I was breaking out how would I know?" Alex says curiously.

"You would have weird dreams the day before breaking out." Aaron says trying to sum it up.

"Well what would the dream be about?"

"It depends on what powers you have, like for me I had a dream about fire, water, air and earth and that I could teleport. I thought it was just a dream, though until I woke up and teleported to my bathroom. If you have a dream that you usually don't have come to me."

Aaron looked down at his hands then quickly shoved them into his pockets. He ran off before Alex noticed.

"Well, okay bye." Alex says to herself. Alex starts thinking to herself "I wonder why he ran off like that."

Aaron slammed the door behind him as he ran into his house. Jack ran up to him and asked what was wrong. It took him a few seconds to realize that Aaron's hands were glowing.

"Are your hands okay Aaron?" Jack asked.

"I don't know, where is Henry? Nikolai says worried.

The Elementals had sent Henry to help Aaron with controlling his powers.

"Henry? Henry!" Aaron yells.

"What?" Henry says.

It also takes him a second to realize Aaron hands were glowing.

"This is great!" Henry said excitedly, "This means your powers are growing, Aaron, calm down."

Aaron took in deep breathes, his hands start to glow less and finally stop.

"You'll learn to hide it eventually, but this is amazing." Henry smiled.

"What the hell was that?" Jack and Aaron said in unison.
