When did the world change? When did the pure instinct for survival change to the need and want for everything? Since when have we required penthouses and fancy cars and swimming pools in our back garden to survive? Since when has yachts, huge houses and private land help us live? Why are we taking these things for ourselves when there are people out there that don't even have a home, that don't even have food, that don't even have water?

I would like to know why we feel the need to destroy the countryside and build new houses when there are already houses that can be sold. I would like to know why we are building more roads, rather than reducing the number of cars. What happened to living off the world, living off nature, taking what we needed and nothing more?

Instead; we cover the ground under inches of concrete, create giant grey columns in an attempt to reach the sky, because obviously, the earth isn't enough anymore, tune out the sounds of birds, bugs and every other living thing and tune into the sounds of phones, computers and commercial shouts. The taste of factory created food blocks out the rush of berries, the freshness of fish and the coolness of spring water.

Obviously, because the land we inhabit isn't enough, we must go and invade other countries who we have been living beside for centuries. Of course, if they don't give us the land that they deserve to have, we must take it by force, of course, we have to fight the 'enemy'. They haven't given us what we demand (what we don't need) so we must send an army of trained soldiers away from their homes to die in an unknown place, to kill innocent people who have nothing to do with the politics of their country, and to force them to be quiet. Of course, when they fight back they are a hostile country, and they must be calmed down with diplomats and peace treaties to make us seem like the victim.

Of course, when we require more biofuel, more soap, more toothpaste, we should cut down forests upon forests of life. What would you do if your homes were removed by a force unknown to you? You would fight back- but what about the animals of the Amazon, South America, Australia, Europe, Asia and every other corner of the globe? What about the ancient forces of nature known simply to you and I as trees? Can they fight back?

Obviously, when you run out of Chanel perfume and have to pop to the shop, you should ignore the homeless sat outside. In fact, you should just pretend that they don't exist, whatever helps you sleep at night right? So you know what would make this easier? If we just ignored all the world's problems, like the refugee caravan in South America that will get turned away at the border because they don't have passports, green cards, money. "Follow your dreams" you might get told; but what if you were a refugee, turned out of your home by the mafia, and your dream was to live in America? What would you do then? Because you obviously can't live there without your money, without your certificates that tell whether you are a real person, without that single document, the green card, that tells you that you are an American citizen.
