I noticed Jon looking more relaxed than usual, smiling and laughing and even talking. He wasn't silent like how he was before his birthday.

It must be the girl.

Of course it was, she was pretty and when I asked Lionel about her he said she's very good at making quiet people talk.

Alexandria and Luke seemed to be avoiding each other, she keeps rolling her eyes at him and he keeps looking sullen and angry all at the same time, I was confused.

Lisa whenever around the two of them would try to get them to talk but it didn't work, this sparked my curiosity.

When Alex left to go to her club meeting I leaned in to Lisa, it was just the two of us, just the way I wanted.

"What happened between Luke and Alex?" I asked.

She looked sad, sighing at her food. "Alex told me to invite Christopher Peterson to the Masquerade ball. Luke wasn't angry that day probably because he thought it would look rude to be mad at a party he was invited to, but after it all ended he got angry, cornered Chris and I in the halls and Alex stepped in defended me and Luke..."

"Luke snapped?"

She shook her head, she must have really felt horrible about it as tears rolled down her cheeks, she wiped them hastily, "He looked hurt, I guess betrayed almost. I didn't mean to, I didn't want them to fight but Alex kept telling me it wasn't my fault and Luke was being a jerk but Luke is my brother and Alex is my friend and I don't know what to do."

I held her hands and give her a reassuring smile, "I'll talk to Luke about it how about that?"

Her eyebrows creased together. "He'll listen to you."

I shrugged, "Probably not."

It was History class when I saw him, he was already in his seat reading his notes, he looked so much at peace and I breathed in knowing when I approached him that placid face would disappear.

"Luke," I said taking a seat in front of him, I angled myself to lean on his desk, he didn't seem surprise that I came to him.

Having his cheek still resting on his hand he looked up at me, his voice calm. "Did Alex tell you to talk to me?"

I smiled, "No."

That surprised him. He stood up his face changing instantly looking more guarded that before.

I turned the pages of his textbook and tried not to feel intimidated by his behaviour towards me, I didn't blame him though, I promise to ruin his family if he hurt Alex. But after what I found out about my father the more I felt wrong to choose his side. Don't get me wrong, I'm not choosing Luke's side either, his grandfather is just as cruel. Still though I would feel better knowing that my father wouldn't be able to blackmail or cheat to get his way.

"I promised Lisa I'll speak to you," I admitted.

"My sister?"

I chuckled, "The one with the short blonde hair and blue eyes, yes?"

"Why would my sister –"

"Because she doesn't want to see you and Alexandria fighting and to be fair I don't either. You and Alex have something going and you'll let Chloe's brother get in your way."

"I still like Alex," he admitted, "It's her, I don't know, she thinks she knows what's best for Lisa and even though Chloe and I are friends I still don't want her brother with my sister. She's only fifteen."

"Last I recall Christopher is the same age as Lisa and what about you? What does that say about you dating a fifteen year old?"

His face turned red and I smirked. "I'm sixteen," he replied but he knew he was losing.
