The Party

*Y/n's Pov*

Me and Muriel have been dating for almost 2 years now and I love him so much hehe. There was two nights until the castle was hosting another masquerade party and Muriel was getting really anxious, since I was invited by Nadia to be a special guest and preform some magic to entertain the guests. When I told Muriel about it he seemed quite happy about my opportunity but then I told him that I had to have a date to join me. That's when he began to get tense,

" B-but Y/n, you know I dont like crowds or parties." He said with that anxious posture that makes my heart hurt.

" I know Muri but I dont want to go alone, what if something happens" I pleaded

"No Y/n! Im not going back to that castle!" he almost shouts while leaving the house and slamming the door with inanna following him.

I was alone, it was quite late aswell. About 3 hours pass and I was starting to get worried... I sat on the bed and layed down, before I had even noticed I had fallen asleep.

*Muriel's Pov*

It was 5 o clock and I was at the door of the house, i took a deep breath and entered the house seeing a sleeping Y/n on the bed. As I walked closer I noticed how their pillow was soaked with tears and it broke my heart. Did I hurt them that much?

" Y/n?" I wisper quietly while crawling behind them. I realise they are completely lost in dream so I just decide to lay behind them and hug them through the night.

-The morning-

*Y/n pov*

I wake up with Inanna licking my face and a large arm strapped around me. It was Muriel, he must of came in last night, I was too tired to interact so I just snuggled deeper into his chest. About an hour later and I decide to get up, I try to edge myself off the bed but I was tugged back into bed on top of muriel's chest.

"What are you doing?" I asked asked as he continued to bundle us up in the blankets

"I'm apologising alright" He said as he nuzzled his face in the crook of my neck.

Out of all the years I've known him I've never seen him so intimate with me... and I kinda liked it.

" So does this mean you will acompany me to the party tomorrow?" I asked cheekily hoping that he is willing after last night.
He pouted straight away and shruched his forehead

" Fine, as long as I can stay away from everyone and stay in the gardens" he says while pulling me closer so his face can snuggle into my back.

"ok, ok fine!" I said facing him and pecking his nose.

-Before the party-

*Muriels Pov*

Y/n looked so amazing in their costume, it fit so well and complimented them so well that I almost didn't want them to go, but me on the otherhand only had a wooden mask carved like a bear's head which Y/n carved for me.

-At the party-
*Y/n's Pov*
The party was in full swing by now and it was now time for my magic show. I managed to impress them with a few simple tricks while Muriel isolated himself to the fountain in the garden far away from everyone else. I ended the show with with a nice show of light which spread pixelated flowers and petals around to hall.
"Thank you" I took a bow a and the crowd clapped.
I got off the stage and headed to the banquet table and grabbed a few nibbles. I haven't seen Muriel in a while so a begin to walk over to the doors opening onto the gardens but before I got there a man slides in front of me,
" Hey sweetheart what are you doing?" He said his breath stinking of alcohol. I tried to walk past him but a group of more men appeared and circled me.
" excuse me but I must go, my boyfriend is waiting for me" I said while trying to get away from them.
" woah woah woah honey, you gotta relax~" he said in a flirtatious tone " I watched your magic show, it was great but I bet you can do better magic with me though" he said while winking at me and cornering me off in the ballroom.
" So what do you say sunshine?" He continues as he keeps getting closer and trying to touch me.
I was getting really scared and tears were threatening to fall so I did all I could think of....
"MURIEL!!" I screamed at the top of my lungs not caring about anyone else.
Not long after I hear long, fast, heavy running coming from the garden
*Muriels Pov*
"MURIEL!!" I hear a voice scream deafeningly and I immediately know it's Y/n and that they are in trouble.
Without a second thought I begin running into the building looking around for them until I spot them, cornered by a bunch of men, it was then that I saw the tears streaming down their face.
I clench my fist and crack my neck before I feel my blood boil at the sight.
*Y/n's Pov*
At this point I feel so vulnerable and scared I can't help but let the tears fall down my face until I look up. I see Muriel.... and he.looked.FURIOUS.
"Holy shit..." I say facing the man in front of me, " listen if you want to live you really have to leave me alone because as you can see, he is VERY angry" as I'm saying that I point to an enraged Muriel slowly approaching.
"I'm not falling for that sweetheart, that's the oldest trick in the book... now how about you just stay quiet" he begins rubbing his nose into the side of my neck, something only Muriel was allowed to doand holding the sides of my waist.
That was it... holy crap this man is about to die.
It happened so quick that I didn't even realise it had happened...
* Muriels Pov*
I don't what took over me but I just grabbed the man by the neck and just began punching his face over and over and over again. His face was covered in blood and he was choking on the lack of air. Once I had decided he had had enough beating I simply launched him across the room. Guests gasped at the assumed dead body as quickly scooped Y/n up bridal style and carried her away from the castle and back to the hut and layed them down on the bed.

"M-muriel..." I heard Y/n say quietly while I walked away " You... you killed him"

" I know... I know" I said as I cuddled them on the bed and whispered in their hair.

Slowly after I said that I began to cry... " I was really scared Y/n... I thought they were going to do something to you so I acted without thinking I was silenced by a hand on my on my face and the slow rubbing of a thumb on my cheek whiping away my tears.

*Y/n's pov*

I was rubbing away his tears, I had never seen him so worked up like this before and it was hurting my heart.

" hey hey hey, shh it's ok" I say gently pulling him into a more comforting hug and stroking the back of his head to calm him.

I kept stroking him for a while and watched his back rise and fall slower as he calms down but his hands still securely locked around my waist still shaking.

- A few months after the incident-

Muriel is VERY protective on me even when we go remotely near town he makes sure i am not further than an arms length away and i've been trying to simply make it up to him...

At the moment we are on a walk and Inanna is running in front of us and Muriel is walking next to me keeping a firm grip on my hand as we walk. after a while we get to a clearing in the woods where there is a waterfall. It was really romantic~

I slow to a stop and Muriel's head quickly turns towards me with a questioning look.

"Hey Muriel...~" I said leaning up to kiss his cheek.

"W-what?" he answers quite suprised by the sudden kiss.

 "Are you still-"

" Yes, "he replied without letting me finish 

"Do you-"

"Yes" he said again, this time annoying me

"Muriel!"

I seem to of caught him off guard as he shakes his head to look at me.

"yes...?" he said shyly while looking at the ground like he knew what he said was going to annoy me.

"please listen to me dear" I say holding both of his hands and looking into his eyes.

"I.Love.You." I said without breaking eyecontact and saying each word slowly.

Just as Muriel was about to reply I run off giving him a sneaky smile.

"But you've got to catch me first!"
