*Y/n's Pov*
"Hello! welcome to Hogwarts everyone!" you greeted the new coming first years of witches and wizards and they came through the grand hall doors.
"My name is Y/n L/n, head student of the Slytherin house and your new prefect!" You introduced yourself to the class, mentions some ground rules and handed them over to the teacher who would take them into their sorting assembly.
"Oh Muriel, doing that never gets old does it? greeting their cute, exited faces and their grinning smiles." You spoke to your shy Hufflepuff friend, his hair hiding his face as he looked down at the ground. Muriel was huge for a year 11 (final year of high school in England), you yourself averaged at about y/h but Muriel was possibly 6'4 and still growing.
You and Muriel had met on the first day of hogwarts, he had stumbled into you as soon as you got off the boat, him landing on you and causing you to scrape your hands and knees and being swarmed by his apologies and an offer of his chocolate frog, from there, even you don't see or talk to each other much, you have a mental bond of respect and friendship maybe even a hint of flirting from your side but he never really caught on.
*Muriel's Pov*
Y/n was walking by my side as they pull their tie loose and scruffens up their hair, I was too busy watching them, admiring how they've grown into such a beautiful person I didn't notice they were asking me a question.
"S-sorry Y/n, what did you just say?" I ask after shaking my head to concentrate on them.
"I said, How is Nana doing? last time i saw her was before summer break and she was at Hagrid's hut."
The conversation lasted for a while until we finally had to separate to go to our different common rooms, Y/n took the stairs down to the dungeons and I carried on walking towards the green house. We waved at eachoher before we seperated.
I opened the door to the bedroom I share with a few other people in the huffelpuff class and I flop over onto my assinged bed.
"Not this time..." I groaned into the air as I heard a colllected sigh from around the room.
"You gotta do it at some point Muriel!" A small red head chirped.
"I know Portia, I love them but I can't tell if they'll like me back! and if they don't, what if they dont want to be my friend anymore? What if-" I was cut off from my stressing by a pillow to the head.
" Muriel, Muriel, you lovesick, anxious, giant ball of anxiety puppy. They're not gonna hate you! They may be a Slytherin but the kindest and most sweet Slytherin you'd ever meet! And you know that big fella!" she prods at my shoulder
"If you dont I will gladly take them off of you, I bet anyone would! Shoot your shot before it's too late!"
~Time skip to the end of the year~
"It's too late..." I say to myself with tears in my eyes as I watch the boat with Y/n in drift away.
I got on my boat and sat down.
"I'm sorry Portia, my nerves got the better of me!" I hung my head as she pat my shoulder.
"It's ok bud, who knows, maybe you'll see her some time in the future!" she said, trying to sound optimistic.
Little did I know...
