Ten years later
"She changed my life.."
Beyoncé looked out onto the stage from the crowd which was filled with thousands of people. Everyone stared at the tall, male figure in awe of his story.
"I went from being kicked out of school at the age of 12, moving dope to make a living for myself and my granny, multiple run ins with the law, I served years in jail, I've done shit that I still to this day refuse to talk about.
"But at the age of 29, you'd think I would've learned my lesson with the streets. Nah, I was still doing shit someone my age shouldn't be doing. I was comfortable with the money I was making, the girls, the cars, the jewelry — I wasn't thinking straight, until I met this one woman that changed my life forever."
Beyoncé smiled as Monica nudged her in a loving way. She could already feel her cheeks turning bright red as she listened to her husband talk about her.
"She was 18,19 — ten years younger than me, but so much smarter and wiser than any woman half her age. When I met her, I was playing it cool until I really sat back and was like, wow.. I'm in love with her.
"This woman, who is now my wife, changed my life forever. Without her, I'll probably be in jail or dead right now. But instead, I'm standing here today in front of thousands of people in the city of New York telling my story. Ten years and three children later, I'm still here and still very much in love with that same woman I met over ten years ago.
"In conclusion, you never know how life will end for you. You never know who you may run into that'll impact your life, but whatever you're doing, you just have to continue. Life is a marathon and as the late, great Nipsey Hussle says, the marathon continues. My name is Shawn Carter, and this is my story."
Everyone clasped their hands together and rose to their feet to give Shawn, formerly known as Hov, a round of applause.
Minutes later, the lights became brighter and soft music began to play as everyone made their way out of the venue.
"Mama, are we seeing daddy?" Beyoncé looked towards her son, Sir. As usual, he was overly hyped to see his father — he was a daddy's boy.
All three of their children loved and adored Shawn. Beyoncé found herself getting jealous sometimes, but she never took it to heart. Her and Shawn always found themselves joking about it.
"Yeah, just give me your hand."
She held her son's hand while walking down the stairs. "Don't fall mama," he joked, "Cuz then I won't be able to help you."
She laughed, "Fuck you." She mumbled under her breath. They finally caught up with everyone else so Sir let her hand loose and walked over to his twin sister, Rumi.
"About time!" A 10 year old Blue said, watching her mother walk her way.
"Girl, get out of my face. Where's your daddy?"
"He keeps talking to people. Can you tell him to hurry up? He'll only listen to you."
Beyoncé chuckled and looked over to see Shawn holding conversation with a few people. She didn't want to be rude, but she was hungry and pretty sure the kids were also.
Walking over to him, she immediately grasped his attention along with the people he was talking to.
"And this is my wife, Beyoncé." He introduced. She smiled and held her hand out to meet theirs.
"So you're the special someone! God bless you and your family. We love to hear Shawn's story, and you've played a big part in it."
"Thanks a lot." She said with a genuine smile before turning to look at her husband, "Your kids are hungry baby. Are you ready?"
