Levi POV

I looked up from my computer at the girl standing in front of the reception desk. "Hi, I'm here to see Mr. Smith." She said with a smile and I raised an eyebrow. She looked a bit young to have a meeting with the top boss. "Name?" I replied simply, not really much I could do if she had an actual appointment. "(Name) Smith. I don't have an appointment. I came to surprise him for his birthday." She looked so excited and happy as she held up a small box with the word 'Happy Birthday' written on the side of it. I looked back at my computer screen to see if Mr. Smith was in a meeting and it looked like he was free so I gestured for her to go ahead in.

"Thanks." She said and hurried off down the hall to get into the elevator and head up to Erwin's office.

I was newly hired here so I hadn't realized the top boss had a daughter that lived around here and that they actually were on good terms enough for her to visit him on an almost daily basis. She brought him in lunches, dinners, snacks, or just came in to talk when he wasn't in meetings. She sometimes had to wait in the waiting area if he had something come up and, even though it wasn't part of my job, I would bring her tea or coffee on those days. And I quickly got used to the routine of seeing her nearly every week, until Erwin's secretary quit and the position opened up.

I just watched her walk out carrying a box of her things with her. She'd kept the man on a tight schedule and made sure he was never late. She'd done everything a good secretary would do. But something must have happened that Erwin didn't like. My thoughts about it were cut off when someone tapped my shoulder and I looked over to see it was (Name). "Hey, Mr. Ackerman, could you come with me to my dad's office? He said he wanted to see you." I nodded, utterly shocked but I didn't let that show as I got up from my chair and followed (Name) to the elevator.

We made it to Erwin's office and he immediately handed me a clipboard with a stack of papers on it. "You'll be my new assistant, or I suppose the position is technically called a secretary. I need you to cancel today's meetings as well as tomorrow's. It's my daughter's birthday tomorrow and I'm taking her out for the day." He said matter of factly and the girl beside me smiled brightly. "If you've got the day off tomorrow, can Mr. Ackerman come with us?" She asked and Erwin looked just as surprised as I did.

The answer had been yes but I hadn't expected it to be quite so boring to go shopping and out to dinner with my boss and his daughter. But at least the girl seemed to enjoy her birthday so I supposed it wasn't so bad.

My desk had been moved upstairs to be just outside of Erwin's office and most of my day was spent rearranging meetings or taking messages and getting the man coffee when he wanted it. It wasn't as hard as I had thought it would be and he was actually much nicer than I'd thought as well. But what really made my new position better for me was that now I got to see (Name) every single day. Even when she didn't directly come to visit her father. My phone rang and I picked it up. "Yes, Mr. Smith?"

"My daughter has a trip to visit her friends at the beach this weekend and I've got no meetings but I'm going to be flying out to see my father. I'd like you to accompany her on the trip and make sure she stays safe." He said and I felt my heart beat a little faster. Over the past couple of months of seeing (Name) daily and getting to know her bit by bit, I'd grown feelings for her. Of course, I'd kept them to myself because of the large gap in our ages. I took a little breath to calm myself down and answer without it sounding too excited. "Yes, sir. Enjoy your trip to visit your father." "I'll pay you extra for this. Thank you. She leaves tonight." He said, giving me her address to write down before hanging up
