When we returned to the building we heaved ourselves up to the 'penthouse' and fell in a heap on the sofa. We took it in turns to go to the bedroom and change into more comfortable clothing and spent the rest of the afternoon in serenity; reading our books on the sofa together.
A while later when the sun started to set, I decided to go on a little walk and familiarise myself with the surrounding city centre.
I wore Romeo's hoodie again and wandered through the streets, watching the sun set as well as trying to keep track of how far I was from the building.
Eventually the city was covered in a blanket of darkness; only to be illuminated by the dim streetlights and the stars that protruded through the clouds.
In a moment of the sky being clear enough to see all the stars I could, I decided to stop and spend a moment gazing up at them. That moment however ended rather quickly as someone snuck up behind me; wrapping one arm around my stomach and placing their other hand over my mouth, I was carried off down an alley.
Romeo's P.O.V
I think I made a mistake letting Juliet go out so late on her own. In this city, sunset is basically curfew; unless you're someone like me.
It'd been quite a while since she'd left and I haven't heard anything from her. Time was my worst enemy at this point and as the night continued I sent dozens of texts and made too many unanswered calls.
I'd turned on the radio in our bedroom and was about to climb into bed when I heard my phone vibrate from the table in the lounge. I sprinted out and dived onto to sofa, picking up my phone mid air.
"We have the girl you've come to care for so much. If you wish to see her again, come to my bar at 1300 hours tomorrow. - Graves"
I felt my heart stop as I reread the message over and over. My breathing became faster as I finally came to terms with what happened. I sat up and ran both my hands through my hair with the illusion that if my vision was clear my mind would work faster.
I fumbled through my phone and called in Ace and Kingsley. They arrived here as fast as they could, much to the displeasure of their wives.
"Right. Juliet's been kidnapped. All I have to help me find her is this text that's allegedly been sent by Graves,"
"Allegedly?"
"We came to an altercation with Graves himself earlier. He was dead. Ace, you call Levi and Kingsley, you call Onyx. They'll still be up and they lead too sad lives to actually be doing anything right now,"
I paced back and forth in front of them as I struggled with listening to both conversations and my minds constant wandering to the worst possible scenarios."Levi's coming up. He needs your phone to be able to track where the message came from,"
"Alright, go wait at the entrance. I need this to be fast."
Ace jumped up off my sofa and sprinted out to the lift.
"Kingsley, where are we with Onyx?"
I continued practically stomping back and forth as the pressure started getting to me."He says if she has her phone on her right now he might be able to find the current location, but he needs an insane amount of details about it,"
I stopped and pulled back my hair as I stared into the mirror above my fake fireplace. I wasn't going to get any sleep tonight.****
As I expected I spent all night worrying about her. I must care for her more than I thought; which means I have to be careful. It's a dangerous version of the game of life that I choose to play.
