"Budge over." I say playfully to Jed, who is sat next to me on the sofa in his living room. The wood burner is on and a warm crackling sound comes from it.
"Why should I budge over? You are taking up all the room!" he replies cheekily. I nudge him gently and snuggle up against him. His face spreads into a smile.
"Soooo.... What we watchin'?" I said enquiringly. He had asked me round for a movie night and I had just got the popcorn from the microwave. He was supposedly meant to be choosing a movie, but it didn't look like he had decided.
"Well.... I thought-" he starts but I cut him off playfully "Oh! Jed thinking! Don't overdo it now..."
He smiles at me and I feel safe and happy. "-I thought we could watch 'Up'?"
"No, I cry too much." I said, he looked at me funny and smiled again, "what was that face for?"
"I was trying to work out what part you cried at." he said softly
"The bit with the music, and how Ellie and Carl grow up. And Ellie dies." I looked sadly up at him and wondered whether he would get it.
"Oh." was all he said, but broke into a smile. We sat in peaceful silence for a while, snuggling into each other.
"I'm stupid aren't I?" I finally say.
"No! What made you think that?" he says shocked.
"Just that. Well. I cry at most films, and the majority aren't even sad! Like the bit in Toy Story 3 where Woody escapes the nursery, but looses his hat on the ground."
"Really?" he laughs gently and his eyes twinkle, this is why I fell in love with him.
We end up watching Up anyway because he persuades me, he says, "We have to watch it because I love it when you cry over books or films. It makes me want to hug you and love you even more to protect you, and let no one hurt you. Which is almost impossible, because my heart is so full of love for you as it is."
So we at watch Up and at the bits where I cry he holds me close and wipes the tears of my face. "I love you." he whispers. I love him, with every piece of me and I know that he loves me to.
