Chapter 34: Melissa And Pierce

(Melissa's POV)

I hope Ava finds me and Pierce soon. Pierce got distracted by these two old men playing chess. So I just stayed with him incase he'd do something stupid.

"Fascinating." Said Pierce.

I spot Ava approaching us.

"Oh! Ava." Said the grey haired man.

"Tell your dad I'm voting for him." Said the dark skinned man.

"I'm sure he'll appreciate that Mr. Green." Ava replied.

Mr. Green? Is that one of Ava's dads friends?

She chuckles nervously and looks at me.

"Melissa, what is Pierce doing?" She asked me.

I turn to her.

"He told me he's watching them plan war." I tell her.

"For the last time it's chess!" Mr. Green yelled.

I look at him.

"Forgive me Mr. Green." I said.

"It's fine. I guess you don't need to be that smart when you look that good." Said Mr. Green.

He chuckled.

"Oh I miss my youth." He said.

"Wait. You know this young man Ava?" The other man asked.

He laughs.

"Wait... is this your boyfriend?" He asked.

"I'm a man." Pierce replied.

"What is a man?" The old man asked.

I put my hand on my face.

Mr. Green chuckles.

"Careful, you're senile is showing." Mr. Green said.

"Ah. At this point, it's just a free show." The old man said.

Mr. Green looks at us.

"Also Ava, do your parents know?" Mr. Green asked.

"These are just my friends and we're going now." She said.

She chuckled nervously.

"Come on Melissa and Pierce. See you later Mr. Green and Mr. Dracula." Ava said.

Mr. Dracula? Hmm... odd last name...

Me and Pierce follow Ava. She looks at Pierce.

"Pierce, why did you and Melissa wander off?" She asked.

"We were going to help contain the others but, I got distracted." He said.

I sighed.

"It's... it's fine..." I tell him.

He looks at me.

"Are you angry with me Melissa?" He asked me.

"A little bit, but at the same time I'm just glad Ava and Dottie wrangled everyone else up. They're all not causing problems for us right now and that's what counts." I explained.

There was silence for a few seconds.

"Do you care for us?" He said.

I give him a surprised look.

"Huh?" I questioned.

He raises an eye brow.

"Do you care for us? Even though we're Deimos." He asked.

I didn't know what to say to him. I was speechless.

Ava joined the conversation.

"Odd thing to throw at us but... uh... I mean, I guess I never really questioned that..." Said Ava.

She laughs nervously.

"I mean, I don't care for many people, so what makes you think Melissa cares for you guys? Heh, heh..." She asked.

"Why do you keep us with you then? Deimos don't normally tolerate those who cannot benefit them in some way." Said Pierce.

Everything was silent. I didn't know what to say to him. He just looked at me.

"Why do you keep us?" He asked.

"You know, for a guy who is normally quiet, you talk some really heavy words." I reply.

I chuckled.

"Besides, we don't keep you guys i mean, you took me and Melissa's friends in as your prisoners so i had no choice but to keep you all. I mean, why do you guys keep me and Melissa's friends?" Ava asked.

He looks at us.

"Because you benefit us." He said.

"See? There you go! That's me and Ava's reason too!" I tell him.

"I just thought humans and Lu'pine's thought deeper than that." He replied.

I sighed. I hug him.

"Well... I do... I just... I just do a lot of thinking alone is all." I said slightly blushing.

"And, I don't get along with many people so..." Said Ava as she chuckled nervously.

I stopped hugging Pierce. I turn to look at Ava.

She gasped.

"The others! I almost forgot! We gotta go!" She said.

She started running. I followed her but I stopped. I turn back to look at Pierce.

"Pierce? Are you coming?" I ask.

He then looks at me. He nods his head and follows me.

I slightly blush. I know I can't fall for him. I love Lucinda. But for now... I'll just help him learn more about Earth.
