Veronica sat in the small rundown bed set in the middle of Sweet Pea's room. The covers pulled high up to her chest, as the whirling of the fan was drowned out by the tv. Mindlessly she was scrolling through her phone, pictures of her friends with her boyfriend's or girlfriends seemed to frequent her feed. She never took pictures like that with Sweet Pea, he was never that kind of person. Though she wanted to post all the cute things he'd done for her. It felt special keeping it between them.
Sighing Veronica sat her phone down on the small bedside table, and throwing the covers off her. She got up, sinking her feet into the old carpet. Veronica begun picking up empty beer cans, tossing them into the trash can by the door. Sweet Pea's bedroom was always a mess, slowly that began to not bother her as much.
They'd started dating after Archie broke up with her at FP's retirement party. She met him through Jughead, he had caught her eye immediately. And when he had moved to Riverdale High, they got closer. After a while she finally accepted his offer for a date at a restaurant in Greendale. That'd been the day she realized, she had fallen for him completely. There'd be no more second guessing on what she wanted.
She wanted him, and only him.
After she cleaned up the trash and everything off the floor, she walked to the kitchen. Sweet Pea's flannel she wore ended just above her knees, it completely swallowed her. She ran her fingers through her hair pushing it back and out of her face.
Veronica opened up the fridge grabbing one of the wine glasses she kept in it out, popping the cork she grabbed a glass. Who said you can't drink at 12 am on a Sunday night anyway. She placed the large bottle back in the fridge and grabbed her glass taking a sip.
Sweet Pea was on a serpent run, leaving her alone at his trailer. It was a common theme around this time of the year, the serpents needed more money around the holidays and Sweet Pea picked up every job he could. She'd offered multiple times to help him out, and he only accepted some of it. Letting her pay for their groceries and other small things. Him and his stupid pride, she thought to herself as she sipped her wine.
She was caught off guard by the loud rumbling of Sweet Pea's motorcycle pull up in front of the trailer. He wasn't supposed to be home till tomorrow, but nonetheless he walked through the small screen door much to Veronica's surprise. She set the wine glass down on the counter.
In a second she had ran and jumped straight into his arms, knocking the duffel bag out of his hand. It hit the floor with a small thud and his arms encased around Veronica.
"Hey babydoll," he laughed, his arms holding Veronica closer to him. "Missed you."
"I missed you too" she cried into his shoulder, squeezing him tighter. He held her closer, his whole body shaking with a happy chuckle. "How'd you get home?"
Sweet Pea pulled away just enough to look into her eyes. He grabbed her cheeks, only answering her question after pecking her lips. He leaned his forehead against hers as he spoke, "Jughead was gonna make us all stay a few more days, but I talked him out of it, and I finished my shit a little earlier. So there wasn't anything stopping me from coming back to you."
"Well aren't you handy," she giggled, grabbing the sides of his neck and pulling closer for a real kiss. He smelled like cigarettes, she hated it, but as much as she did hate it. No one tasted like him. His hands slid down resting on the swell of her ass, pulling her closer. Softly he pulled away, his lips lingering just about hers. Veronica's eyes fluttered back open, "You're the best."

He chuckled, "wait till you see this than." He pulled himself away from Veronica, picking the discarded duffle bag from the floor and setting it on the couch. Unzipping it, it didn't take him long to pull out what he was looking for. He turned back around, holding something in his hands, she couldn't tell what it was because of the cloth that had been tightly wrapped around it. "I know I should have given this to you months ago, but it was expensive and I only just got the money." He mumbled, his pride obviously hurt by his own words as he handed the item to Veronica.
"Baby.." Veronica's voice got quiet. "You know you don't have to me anything... having you is enough."
"I want you to have it. Now come on open it," he said, his smile returning.
Taking a deep breath, she begun to remove the black cloth, to reveal a black leather jacket. "Pea-" she gasped, she hurriedly turned it around to see the back. There it was, the serpent mascot sewn onto the middle, along with Sweet Pea right underneath it.
"I know you said you never wanted to be a serpent but, after all you've done for us. You're a serpent by association, and you're only mine at the same time."
A few years escaped from Veronica's eyes, she quickly put the jacket on, and grabbed his cheeks kissing him. This time with more passion, he didn't waste time slipping his tongue through her lips and his hands grabbing at her ass, pulling her body flush against his.
He moved down, kissing along her jaw and her neck. She closed her eyes humming softly, "this is the best thing you could have ever gotten me Pea, I love it so much. I love you even more."
"I love you more baby doll," he laughed and pulled away from her neck, his forehead resting against hers, his finger tips running across her hips.
Suddenly, Veronica's expression changed into a pout, " but I didn't get you anything."
"Baby," Sweet Pea looked into her eyes. " having you here, is enough for me."
