"Any words before the race?" Enzo asks as he stands between Christian’s car and Tate’s car. If you don't remember, Tate is the one I raced against the other night. He just wants to win someone but he isn’t gonna be able to do that with our team.
"You aren’t gonna win homeboy" Christian says. Tate just laughs.
"We'll see about that" Tate says. I have a strong feeling that something is going to happen but before I can ask Enzo to talk to Christian before the race, the girl comes between the cars.
"3!" She yells.
"2!"
"1!"
"GO!" They both start driving so fast I can barely see anything. Me and the crew stand around the track but higher up so we can see the whole track.
Large ramps, fire rings and some many more dangerous things lie ahead for them both.
"You been proved yet?" Someone asks as they wrap their arms around me. I just laugh and remove his arms.
"You proved to me that you are completely useless still and I really have no reason to race you" I say in a chuckle. Before he can reply a loud bang echoes through the air. Everyone falls silent. I look onto the track and see Christian’s car on fire.
"CHRISTIAN!" I yell. I try and get down to the track but someone holds me back. I start screaming and trying to wriggle out their arms.
"Let Enzo do it" The voice says. I recognise it as Ryder's voice.
"No! He could be dead!" I yell back at him before I finally give up and break down crying. Then I turn around to look at him “This was you wasn’t it!” I yell at him, pulling myself out of Ryder’s arms and walking towards him.
“If you would have raced, it would have been you” He whispers in my ear and walks off into the crowd but not before yelling something “Silver Bullets; learn it, fear it!” I’m guessing that’s the name of his crew. I start crying again and Max comes up and hugs me.
“I’m gonna see what’s going on” Ryder says and he starts going over to the now disintegrated car. Clouds of smoke fill the air and Enzo is making everyone leave as he has called the ambulance which will be followed by police.
About 5 minutes later, everyone has left and the ambulance has arrived. Christian is barely conscious but is awake enough to groan at movements that jerk him around.
“It’s gonna be okay” I tell him, reassuring him, but really I think I’m really only trying to reassure myself.
When we arrive at the hospital, Christian is immediately taken in to be looked at. I sit down in a chair and look ahead to the room where he was taken in. After a while, I decide to go for some air.
“I’m just gonna get some air” I tell everyone. When I get outside it starts raining but I don’t care. It starts getting heavier but I still stand out in it. Not long after I feel someone’s jacket go around my shoulders. I turn and see one of my dad’s school friends Pete Stevens.
“Hey Lexi poo” He says putting an arm around me.
“Hey Peter Pan” He laughs at the nickname.
“I didn’t think you would remember me” He tells me. I smile.
“You’re pretty hard to forget” I say truthfully.
