They are helpful and a friendly reminder that there are plenty of other words with the same or similar meaning to use in our storybooks. Sometimes we like or use one word that fits but a couple of chapters later, its an annoyance to be so repetitive.
I mentioned it in the last chapter but here it is again, synonyms are a great way to create better or more creative titles. I use it all the time and continue to do so. As well as antonyms, if you need the exact opposite of a word.
Here is a list of synonyms I think are most useful, grammar wise in chapters:

💡 before: earlier, ahead, previously, former
💡 but: on the contrary, yet, except, unless
💡 after: later, thereafter, followed by, postliminary
💡 be: exist, go on, living, abide, hold, endure, continue, act
