"There's nothing I'm really passionate about. You know, like, I'm not dying to say or do anything, really. And every time I admit that to people, they're like, 'oh my gosh, that's so sad.' But... I think that's the case for most people. You know, like when I look at my sister or... like, the kids at my school... like, their profiles or their posts and their Tumblr rants... you realize they're all just fucked up too... and lost." Rue Bennett spoke.
She was sitting in a restaurant booth next to Zelena Lincoln, and Ali was sitting across from them. Apparently, right after Zelena called him last night, Rue called him too, so some shit must have gone down for her too, but she didn't tell Zelena it was because she kissed Jules and Jules rejected her. Zelena didn't mention her brutal fight with Nate and then her complete breakdown at Fezco's.
"They just have a reason to mask it... whether it be like their, their families or their boyfriends or their hashtag activism. And they're just reaching for something to make it all seem meaningful." Rue said.
"Rue... Zelena." Ali spoke to the girls, but Rue continued to ramble on.
"But sometimes, I just sit and think... like what's the point?" Rue asked.
"Rue... Rue. I don't give a shit. Why'd you both call me?" Ali asked.
"Honestly... I didn't really have anybody else to call." Zelena said, and Rue nodded, agreeing with her statement.
"Well, what happened to make both of you call at almost the same time?" Ali asked.
"Um... you know... just like the usual bullshit," Zelena said, shrugging her shoulders, while Rue stayed quiet.
"Zelena... Rue, you know that drug addicts don't reach out for help unless there are no options. So what happened?" Ali asked again.
"Um... I was with my best friend, and um... we got in a really big... uh, it's stupid. It's stupid." Zelena said, shaking her head, trailing off, so Rue decided to speak up.
"I was also with my best friend. Well... she's a new friend, but we hang out every day, and uh... uh...-" Rue trailed off, shaking her head, embarrassed to admit what happened.
"...-What?" Ali asked both girls.
"I just... I misread the whole situation. And now it's gonna be really, really, really... really fucking awkward. And I guess that hanging out with her was... was the best thing that's happened to me in a while, so..." Rue trailed off, and then Ali looked at Zelena.
"Your turn." He said. Zelena sighed.
"He's been my best friend since we were born. Our parents were friends, we grew up together, and we fought badly. I mean, we've had fights before... what friends haven't? But this one was really bad, and it just sucks because he's the best and consistent thing I have going for me right now..." Zelena trailed off as well, wiping her eyes.
