it was only a matter of time before yumi caught on and saw that there was something going on between bambi and the new girl. jiyoung knew it, so she wasn't surprised when the tall girl stomped over and slammed her hand down on the table in front of her.

"who's the girl bambi is always with?" yumi asked, looking around to see that bambi and said girl were walking back to the table. bambi was too distracted by mary's flirting to even notice yumi there, and that made yumi even more mad.

"she's really sweet. her name is mary," jiyoung said, "maybe you should have tried being nice to her."

bambi looked up when they got closer to the table and slowed down when she saw yumi, which gained the attention of mary who wrapped her arm around the shorter girl.

"mary, this is yumi, she was just leaving," jiyoung said, glaring at yumi when she saw how uncomfortable bambi was with her there.

yumi left, but not before trying to intimidate mary. mary didn't care, though, she was more concerned with making sure bambi was okay. she obviously didn't know anything other than the fact that bambi obviously had a past with that girl.

"yumi is my ex girlfriend," bambi told mary once they sat down. she played with the lid of her water bottle as she thought about her past relationship with yumi.

"weird," mary said, grabbing the bag of apple slices from her lunch tray and opening them.

"what? what's weird?" bambi dreaded the thought of mary thinking she was weird. she waited for an answer, taking the bag that mary held out to her.

"you're too pretty and nice to have dated her," mary stated before beginning to eat her lunch, acting as if she hadn't just made bambi feel all sorts of ways with those few words.

"anyway," jiyoung said, not wanting to be involved in their flirting, "yumi is jealous."

"yumi sucks," bambi said. she pouted which both girls just thought was endearing, especially as she took a bite of an apple slice.

"yes, she does," jiyoung said and leaned across the table to ruffle bambi's hair, getting a loud whine out of her as she tried to hide herself from mary while the fixed her hair. but mary just grabbed bambi and turned her to her to fix her hair.

"what did yumi do?" mary asked as she messed with bambi's bangs, making sure they were perfect because of how nit-picky the younger was with things like her hair and makeup.

"she always made me feel really stupid and at the end, she cheated on me," bambi explained, playing with her fingers to avoid looking at mary or jiyoung.

"bam has gotten a lot better at english but she wasn't as great when she and yumi dated so yumi would always make fun of her english and stuff. along with other things that make me hate her."

mary didn't say much, only thinking and occasionally glancing over at yumi and her group of friends who were already looking at her. she didn't care, though, so she didn't worry about it and played with some of bambi's hair.

"i'm going to be all alone next week," bambi complained, laying her head down on the table. she looked up at jiyoung and mary with her eyes, pouting, as if that would stop them from going on the mandatory school trip. well, they would have if they could have for the sake of bambi.

"bambi, you have so many friends you can sit with next week," jiyoung said because it was true. bambi knew so many people, she's never run out of people to sit with, but she still would rather sit with jiyoung and mary.

"they're not you two."

the older girls cooed and ruffled her hair again but bambi didn't bother to fix it. she was upset about not seeing them for a week and having to go through school on her own, especially after yumi was being mean.

"we'll both pick you up on monday morning and we can go early and get breakfast, okay?" jiyoung offered in efforts to cheer the sad girl up.

bambi agreed before standing up and saying she had to use the restroom. it was most likely to fix her makeup that had been messed up when she started to tear up. she was pretty sure they didn't see it though, so it was okay.

"do you know who you're roommates with, yet?" jiyoung asked, knowing she herself would find out in class after lunch.

mary shook her head and explained that she wouldn't know until the end of the day. she didn't have many expectations as she didn't know many people and didn't really care.

"what else did yumi do to bambi?"

"broke her phone, once. she thought bambi was talking to another girl and grabbed her phone and threw it onto the ground as hard as she could."

"bitch."

"yeah, i know."

bambi got back and they stopped talking about the sensitive topics, instead deciding to discuss things that won't make bambi even more upset.
