Virgil's POV
I paced the halls of the quartz building, carpet laced with golden thread, curtains made of soft sky blue silk.
I ran my hands anxiously through my natural purple and black hair, my eyes darting from one corner of the room to another.
I began to wonder if this were a joke, that working for a prince was just some cruel trick played on me by a guard that has to stand by a door. Just for their amusement.
There was a sudden creak behind me, I quickly jumped back into a self defence position. The giant white, gold and red doors were swung open to reveal a boy about my age.
He wore a white red and gold prince suit with gold tassels on the shoulder pads, he had dark brown and red hair that was neatly slicked to the side. He displayed a look of surprise before turning to one with an impressed smile.
"so... You must be my new assistant, Virgil was it?", his voice was soft yet commanding. I quickly let my guard down and bowed respectfully, "yes your majesty".
He looked thoughtful for a moment before reaching for my hand and pulling me inside the room, "do you know anything about costume design? I have a task to attend to but I don't know what a mage wears". I nod to him, "my father was a mage, he usualy wore dark blue to black robes", I winced unnoticeably at the memorie of him.
He had a triumphant smile before pushing me to a desk and gesturing to the paper, "can you draw a suitable design for this description?" he asked, handing me a piece of paper and pencile.
I politely took the pencile from his hand and read the sheet in front of me. It was just a simple theatre performance about a mage protecting a village from a witch.
I gently move the sheet to the left side of the desk and started drawing presentable yet simple designs. He watched from over my shoulder as I scribbled the different details and lengths.
I turned towards the prince, "do you happen to have any colours I could use?". He noded and made his way to a bedside drawer, he opened the oak wood drawer and pulled out a pack of 24 coloured pencils. I thank him quietly and continue my work.
After half an hour I move back a bit and observe my design, I tweaked a few more things before standing up and moving to the side. "is this ok your majesty?", he walked back towards the desk and placed a hand on my shoulder, "please, call me Roman", I smiled and gestured to the drawings displayed across the desk. In total there were four, two female and two male. The paper didn't specify gender so I made an even amount of designs.
"Virge this is incredible, how the hell do you hold such talent?!", I anxiously rub the back of my neck with my hand and avoid eye contact. "kinda got it from my mum", he hugged me quickly and picked up each of the drawings, he carefully placed then into his bag, "thank you Virgil, your definitely talented!".
I shrugged slightly, not really knowing how to take a complement, I never usualy got any, let alone from a prince. "would you like to eat something I'm sure the chefs can make anything you wish?". I smiled gratefully, though I usually didn't have an appetite, "uh, I'm ok, but if your hungry then sure".
