Not very futuristic -SS AU-

I had awoken to the smell of... Something. I had sat up from my position inside of a half worn away log. Turning around to see Patton cooking what looked like rabbit, but who knows in this strange forest.

I stood up, stretching my back, arms and legs in the process. Stumbling my way to where Patton was peacefully humming, a song that I had no clue of.

"morning Pat", I yawned rubbing the sleep from my eyes. "hiya kiddo, how'd ya sleep?", I was generaly surprised at how awake Patton was at a time like this, or whatever time it was. "I actually slept pretty well, how 'bout you?", Patton shone me a bright smile, "I slept wonderfully, who knew sticks and leaves could be so warm.

"salutations everyone, hope your ready to continue our trek home", Patton gasped, "hi Logi how did you sleep?". Logan face palmed, and not just figuratively, "I slept adequately-", "oh my loOord, I slept beautifully", Roman steps out of his leaf hut and stretches. "good morning nerds and emo", I huff, everybody sees me as some emo nightmare, I'm generally offended.

"greetings Roman, are you ready to continue our trek back to the town?", Roman groans frustratingly, "yeEs Logan I'm ready!", he waves a dramatic hand in Patton's direction. "can we eat first, I'm starving?!", Logan turns to Patton, "what are you cooking Patton?". Patton just shrugs, he freaking shrugs. "I used a potion to create a rabbit, I asked your wereraven-" "Drake" "Drake if he could kill it, cause I didn't want to harm anything, and... Here we are now,  I guess".

Logan stared at Patton blankly, "we are not eating a potion made animal Patton, anything could go wrong", Patton sighed. "ok, Let us start leaving then", Roman added, breaking the awkward silence.

We quickly packed our things, walking through bushes and past trees, getting attacked multiple times. By bugs.

"-and that's why dogs are adorable!", Patton finally finished his rant that started all the way back at camp. "now let me tell you about puppies!-", Patton triped on a root, tumbling through the brush.

We all had worn a shocked expression, Logan jumped on to Drake (wereraven) and flew down the hill after him. Roman jumped at the hill and started to speedily slide down, I mirrored Roman's technique and slid down after the others.

I could see an up coming rock, I professionally leaped over it, preparing for the rough landing. Nothing happened.

Instead of feeling the hard rocky hill I felt soft fluffy feathers. I studied my surroundings, coming to the conclusion of the creature being a griffin. 'I told you I'd be here for you, you should really learn to trust me',  Shard scolded.

I sighed, "I didn't doubt you Shard but that doesn't matter right now, everyone has already slid down the hill, we need to follow them", Shard nodded her head and darted down the mountain at record speed.

The wind harshly pricking at my face, I swore if I fell I'm going flying into the air. Suddenly, Shard braked and hovered above a canopy of trees.

I could hear the others voices and decyphered what their saying. "guys, where is Virgil?", "didn't he slide down the hill after you?!", "yes, but he obviously didn't make it this far!", "we need to find him then!".

Before they could finish any more of their rants Shard flew straight into the canopy, somehow not harming itself or me in the process.

The others heads shot up so fast that I feared they pulled a muscle. Shard landed in front of the group, laying down so I could easily hop of its back. "thanks", 'no props V'. "why V?", 'don't question me', "was that rhyme on purpose?", 'I said not to question me',  "ok ok Jee".

I gave them a small wave, "hey guys", Patton tackle hugs me throwing us both to the ground in the process, I could feel the bruise on my shoulder aching in pain. "alright Pat, can I get up now", he nodded, helping me up as Logan and Roman stood off to the side.

Patton's gaze had drifted off to the side, he gasped loudly as he raced through a bundle of bushes, stopping at a random area. "what seems to have gained your attention Patton?", Logan asked curiously. "oh my gosh guys, it's a nest with an egg, so cUuute!".

We all gave each other weary glances as we followed suit of Patton. And as explained, there sat a nest, seemingly abandoned, along with one lonely egg. "guys we can't just leave it here, we have to care for it!", nobody questioned him, once Patton has his mind set on something, its impossible to change.

Once Patron made sure no one would stop him he gently picked up the egg, taking off his white bag, he grabbed a few leaves and placed the egg inside.

'I could give then some feathers if they need', I shrugged slightly, "I don't think it matters, Pats got this under control", Shard nodded, following as we continued our journey to the town.

We stumbled through the forest for what seemed like hours, every now and then stopping to check up on the egg and other creatures, along with ourselves. We finally reached the town square, people filled the area, singing and laughing happily.

"yeEes we have finally made it back!", Roman cheered triumphly. "indeed we have Roman, though you do not need to tell us for we can see it as well", "ok guys no fighting, let's just head to the castle and clean up!". Everyone agreed, somehow nobody questioned the two creatures following us, we got a few terrified and weary looks but brushed them off as soon as we saw them. These creatures are now apart of the family I guess, along with the egg.
