-Same Place, 8:00 P.M.-
Christine-
Anthony seemed to be nervous. He's trembling as if he is shy on the dance floor, or playing Silent Hill Four. I taught him two dances already, and he seemed to have mastered them well. Then again he sticks to his latino routes. He did sensationally well at the tango. Perhaps he had tangoed with death and life all the same at one point. Either way the waltz seems to be the most nerve racking for him. I thought as I attempted to comfort him.
"Babe you'll do fine. Just watch me." I said to him.
"O-o-okay I-I will. I will." Anthony stammered.
"Alright so what do you know about the waltz?" I asked.
"I know how to ask for a dance." he replied as he backed up from me bowed and extended his hand and asked if he could have this dance.
I accepted of course and taking his hand I helped him arrange his hands in the proper position.
"Relax Anthony, I can feel you shaking. Just imagine us holding hands it's no different except one of your hands is on my waist." I assured.
"Well I was never expecting to get this close to you. I mean yes I held you in my arms, but I never expected to dance with you under the stars. You are my love for life after all, so let us never be separated and make this night last forever!"
Anthony was such a sweet heart! Though he speaks very maturely, I understand him. After helping him be free from the pit and pendulum torture in his life, I know that he has grown up long before I had. However, he was my lover nonetheless.
"Aww thanks love!" I replied.
"Now for the waltz, the men lead so you are going to bring your left forward while mine goes back."I instructed as he followed. "Then with your right foot you side step, and then you bring your feet together, then we move back, and finally left then repeat."
At first he stepped on my foot for a grand total of ten times. It was hard to not laugh at my poor love, but I couldn't help but chuckle at the beet red face he made every time he misplaced his footing. As we progressed Sage played formal waltz music, and things were getting smoother save the times he tripped over his own feet.
"One...two...three...four. One...two...three...four. You're getting there Anthony! Keep it up as we get to the actual pace. One two three four. One two three four. You're doing it!"I praised him.
A light snow fall began at that moment and it was magical. As if nature was our ballroom and the crystalline atmosphere was boundless.
Anthony 11:00 P.M.-
Around and around we went dancing in pure harmony. As the stars smiled upon us, the night seemed to last forever, or at least I wish it did. It was not until Sage disrupted our flow by snoring like a sailor over the music that we stopped dancing.
"Christine, this was an amazing experience, and I was wondering... since we are planning to go to the same college and we will still be together..." I said.
"Yes Anthony? Where is this headed?" Christine asked.
"I think it is time for me to ask you a very important question. Now that in our years of being buddies we were secretly dating. We both liked each other... NO loved back then, and now we are here. Now I wish to ask you one final question, and no it is not about academics." I paused.
"What is it Anthony?" she asked nervously.
I took a knee, and pulled out a scarlet box unveiling a golden ring with her birthstone (Zircon) at the center and a swirl of that birthstone, rubies and, diamonds to create the Piece that would embrace her finger. Of which Thomas had donated to me given my financial status, and my need of something that nearly, but never could completely replicate her beauty. He always had treated me as his secret son. When I requested for a ring he held me as a father would, proud his son had grown up. As he handed me the ring he said,
"Son, you made me a proud man. To think that I had been there supporting you since you were a wobbly toddler... I know this ring is a promise to the girl of your dreams, but once you graduate promise me you get the hell outta' this town. Explore the world and son I better get an invite to the wedding."
"You bet I will Father." I said "However I am scared Tom.. I fear my death is approaching..."
"What do you mean my boy?! You have a long ways to go before then." He asked curiously.
"Remember how I kicked the two jockey's asses?" I replied.
"Oh yeah you gave them the hell they deserved. As a matter of fact it was all over the news! America loves you for your gallant act."
"I feel like the jocks are going to kill me when they return... as you are invited to my wedding you are invited to my funeral... Tell no one of what we discussed. For the sake of my fear that I will no longer see Christine or more real father in the land of the living again."
"Okay son.. Do me a favor though. If those bastards so much as lay a hand on you tell them ol' Tommy is going to give 'em hell!"
"I will." I replied.
"Christine, God has lead me to you, and we had loved each other since the seventh grade and even into college next year. So no longer do I wish to be your boyfriend, I want to love you forever..." I paused. "Which is why I ask you Christine Rodriguez... Will you marry me?"I asked revealing the ring.
Christine-
I was in such a state of surprise, all I could do is cry. The ring is gorgeous and he caught me so unaware... I know that given his financial status he probably got the ring from a friend I know the cashier at Kay's treated him like his son. Regardless the ring is beautiful beyond explanation. The snow complimented my birth stone well.
"Yes Anthony. I will marry you." I replied as he placed the ring on my finger, and exchanged a few kisses.
This truly is the perfect night. Nothing can possibly ruin tonight or the on coming days... nothing at all.
Truthfully our love will never die, not now, not during prom, not ever!!!!
"To think this is the day when you and I would be together Two people loving each other and never letting go." I said.
"It is getting a tad cold out here my love we may want to warm up soon. Let's head inside." I suggested.
As if instantly understanding we began to sing our favorite RENT song as we walked towards my door.

Christine:
Live in my house,
I'll be your shelter,
Just pay me back
With one thousand kisses
Be my lover, I'll cover you

Me:
Open your door, I'll be your tenant
Don't got much baggage to lay at your feet
But sweet kisses, I've got to spare
I'll be there and I'll cover you

Christine and I:
I think they meant it
When they said you can't buy love
Now I know you can rent it
A new lease you are my love
On life, be my life

Just slip me on, I'll be your blanket
Wherever, whatever I'll be your coat

Christine:
You'll be my king, and I'll be your castle

Me:
No, you be my queen, and I'll be your moat.

Christine and I:
I think they meant it
When they said you can't buy love
Now I know you can rent it
A new lease you are my love
On life, all my life

I've longed to discover
something as true as this is

(Christine) and I:
So with a thousand sweet kisses
(when you're cold and you're lonely), I'll cover you,
With a thousand sweet kisses,
(You'll get one nickel only),
I'll cover you,

Christine and (I):
With a thousand sweet kisses,
(When you're worn out and tired),
I'll cover you,
With a thousand sweet kisses,
(When your heart has expired),
I'll cover you,

Christine and I:
Oh, lover,
I'll cover you,
Yeah,
Oh, lover,
I'll cover you...
