Caine lay with Diana, when he heard the faint sound of Sam and Astrid quarreling in the living room. He sighed and whispered to Diana, "There they go again." Diana laughed as she nuzzled her head into Caine's neck. Caine sighed and awkwardly patted her head. Her hair smelled like rose petals. He smiled. For once, in his entire life, he actually felt happy. He grinned and told Diana, "My name is David. That's such a stupid name." Diana agreed and sighed. They lay there listening to Sam and Astrid's long ramblings, until they heard the front door opening and closing. "So now what do we do?" Caine asked, bored. "Mmmm.....oh I have an idea. How bout' you tell me what you were thinking so hard about? You got your reward, now talk," Diana suggested. Caine cursed silently, which caused Diana to smirk. "You thought I would forget, didn't you? I never forget anything, Caine. Haven't you learned that already?" Caine pushed Diana off him. "Fine.......I was just...........well," Caine muttered, not wanting to say his thoughts out loud. Diana sighed and grabbed his chin, so that he was facing her, just nanometers from her face. "Tell me, or I will leave you, like you left me." Diana threatened. Caine smirked and said, "Like how Gaia, who you thought was a perfect little angel, until she killed almost everyone, including me, left you?" Diana's face filled with hurt and sadness. Caine laughed maliciously. It was a cold heartless laugh. Diana flinched, and began to roll off the bed, when Caine grabbed her arm. "Hey, I didn't mean it, I just.........well she, no it was never your daughter. It was the devil. You didn't deserve to see that; to see your only daughter bring hell and destruction. I.........well that's what I've been thinking about. I was worried that Gaia hurt you as a muther. I saw the way you looked at her, trying to find some good in her, like you did to me. You didn't find any, so that hurt you, as if you failed as a mother. It charred your soul, and I didn't like to see you sad and depressed; it made me mad," Caine said turning away, ashamed. Diana's dark, endless, midnight eyes softened. "I knew you were weak, Caine," Diana said, as a familiar smirk appeared. Caine glared daggers at her, while he stood up and changed. "Hey where are my......." Caine began, then frowned as Diana's smirk grew. "You witch!" Caine hissed, as he fought the urge to cover himself. Diana laughed, as she held up Caine's shorts. "You looking for these?" Diana taunted. He shook his head and gave her a rueful smile, remembering how she had hid his clothes the day he died. Diana grinned, but eventually gave him his shorts. He quickly got dressed, all the while aware that Diana was watching him.
