Shortly after the private conversation with her Padawan, Sam found a secluded spot near the campsite to contact her Father — Bodo Baas. At first, she was thinking she could not do so, but her patience paid off.
"It's good to see you again, Daughter."
She smiled, "Same here, Father." Sam got to the point because of its urgency, "What can you tell me of my life with you and mom in the city of the Jedi Knights?"
"I take it Palpatine has told you something regarding this?"
"Yes, Father, and it terrifies me, beyond anything that I have faced. I don't want to go through half of what I have been through. The Doctor has told me that the Sontarans have a way to help break me. That scares me even more."
"No one can break you unless you want them to do so. As far as isolating yourself, I think it will do you more harm than good."
"I don't understand?"
"As the old saying even for Earthlings, today, 'you are your worst enemy.' Don't get confused, my Daughter, in helping others and fear of losing oneself. You can't help others if you lose that special person."
"Trust me, Father, I don't want to run like a coward. I have my husband and many people I'm so close to... I could call them my family."
"Just the same you fear for their safety. Do you see yourself going down a path that could destroy you and all that you love?"
She realized she was going down that same path that Anakin Skywalker had been down before he became Darth Vader.
"My dearest Daughter, your love for others is your utmost strength, but if you allow it to consume you, Palpatine can use that against you. As with Anakin, he can get you to give in to his rule. Instead of looking for another apprentice, he will use you like the new host for the Dark-side. Your powers can make a difference and stabilize the machine that is the Dark-side of the Force."
"Palpatine told me I was more his when I was with you and mom in the city of the Jedi. I need to know who I was, so I can use that information to fight him."
"What you have asked has a lifetime of answers. It isn't something that I can fully tell you."
"Father, I need not know every second of those years. I just need to know how it relates to my life, now. It might be what I need to know to defeat him. I might need to know why they removed those memories from me."
"I can answer your last question easily."
Suddenly a female figure appeared.
Sam smiled, "MOM! It's so good to see you."
Oriana replied, "It's great to see you too, Sammy."
"Mom, I'm in big trouble. I need to know all I can."
"It isn't as bad as that, at least — not yet. I took all your memories from you. Did you know I was your mother when we first met in 1860?"
She shook her head.
Oriana continued, "When you realized I was your mother, it was because of the information I gave you through the Force. I regulated all the other information you learned about your past life a little at a time. As you have concluded, there is so much more of your past life."
