It has been 2 weeks since lectures started, I'm quite an introvert so I have no friends. During one of my breaks, I decide to lie on the grass near by the engineering buildings.
Listening to Frank Ocean's song Thinking About You, makes me think about Lucky. I know I sound like an idiot but we all have that one person in life that hurts you so much but you still won't mind going back to them. It sucks because they know that. If Lucky came back and wants me to be with him again, I'd probably jump in his arms. I sigh, listening to the song.
I feel the hot South African sun burning my skin but I enjoy the feeling against my skin. With my eyes closed, memories come flooding in.
Suddenly someone blocks the sunlight, I slowly open my eyes and shocked to see Shuiab looking down at me. I can't hide the scowl on my face, "Why now?" He chuckles before sitting down, forcing my head to be on his lap.
"I'm keeping you company. You need to start making more friends. Aaliyah is known by the postgraduates and the undergraduates in the law faculty." I sigh, rolling my eyes at him. "You know that I'm not outgoing right?" He smacks my forehead, I'm sure leaving a mark.
"You don't have to be outgoing to have friends. You just need to be normal." I gasp, sitting up quickly with a frown. "I'm not weird." He raises his finger in the air, stopping me.
"I didn't say weird, I said normal. Maybe normal is the new weird." I just shake my head in disbelief, I'm surrounded by idiots.
"Whatever!" I exclaim before putting my head back on his lap. I'm actually enjoying sitting like this with Shuiab, no one is bothering us at all. "What do you have after this?"
"That stupid humanities module." He runs his fingers through my braids slowly. Why is he doing this to me? And why am I so comfortable with this? I close my eyes, enjoying his aura and calm vibe. "Do you want to go get food? Or we can do some thing fun?"
"I can't skip-" Shuiab puts his hand over my mouth quickly. "Only one lecture left and you hate it. Come on, you can't ditch me on this one."
I contemplate in my mind if I should go with him. After thinking for the past 5 minutes I decide to join him. "Oh what the heck, no one will die." We both get up from the grass and he dusts my butt for me. "You have a nice ass by the way."
I flip him off and he chuckles again with a smirk before following me. "So where you want to go?" He asks comfortably, "I don't know maybe ice skating or laser tag." He nods, we continue talking for a good while until we exit the campus and reach his Porsche.
Being extra as usual, he opens the door for me and closes it when I get in. He enters quickly and drives away without looking at the school campus. He decides to buy us some KFC dunked wings and he drives us to a mountain peak. He drives quite high up the hill and he chooses a point where the peak looks over Hatfield and some other parts of Pretoria also.
I slowly climb out the car, taking in the breathtaking view. I can't hide the smile appearing on my face as I take in the beauty of the environment. "Isn't this so much better then school for now? You've been looking distressed the whole week, I feel like you needed this." My whole mood lifts up as I realise Shuiab did this to cheer me up.
I walk up to him, hugging him tightly. I can tell he is shocked by me but after some time he rather slowly engulfs me in a hug. Stealing the moment, I take in a deep breath of his cologne and my eyes flutter close. He smells like mint and petrichor, my 2 favourite scents. We stay like that for a while until I remember we have food and I push him out of my way.
That takes him by surprise, "Uh ok."
"Sorry food is babe." I apologize with a smile and he shakes his head, he takes out a blanket and places it on the grass. We both sit on it, eating the food he bought.
