Ch 7

I was running at the park at the crack of dawn, the sun barely coming up doing my morning workout. I stop to rest slightly not that I really needed it but because something felt off. I look around and see black vans parked at the corners of the park. My watch beeps and flashes red.

"What's wrong HOWIE?" I ask bringing my wrist up.

"Sur-rounded in- danger." My choppy AI responds.

"By who?" I ask confused.

Before HOWIE can respond my screen becomes staticky.

"HOWIE?" I ask tapping it.

Despite it being taken away I try to call my shield but cuss when it doesn't want to connect. I call Stark and it connects.

"H-hello." He answers tiredly.

"Stark I think shit's gonna go down-" I try to explain but it cuts off, my watch shutting off.

"Come on." I say tapping it trying to turn it on.

Then a hologram pops up showing an emblem I know all too well.

"When will you learn Rogers? Cut off one head and two more will take its place." Someone says with a dark laugh.

I clench my jaw glaring at the HYDRA symbol. I try to take off my watch but it shocks me. I groan in pain but eventually get it off throwing it on the ground. I look at the vans and see men start to get out. I'm surrounded, no where to run. I then hear a familar sound. Iron man's suit, the first time I'm glad to hear it. I look up to see Tony flying to my side.

"You rang." He says tossing me my shield.

"Thanks Jr. but I think they have us out numbered." I say looking around as I see the HYDRA soldiers rushing in.

"I think we'll be just fine." He says blasting rays.

I throw my shield at some of them knocking them out but they come at us strong getting out their guns shooting.

I hear an engine roar making me turn towards it. A black corvette pulls up and Natasha rushes out with Hawkeye following. I hear more tires screeching seeing more vans pull up but relieved when I see Steve and Bucky with SHIELD agents come out joining the fight.

"You thought you can hide from us Rogers?" The soldier I was fighting grits.

"Do you even know who I am?" I ask blocking his hits.

"I know what I need to from your file." He smirks.

"If only he can see what you've become." He taunts and I go ballistic fighting back until he's taking his lasts breaths on the ground.

"HYDRA wants you Rogers. Hail HYDRA." He smirks before dying.

I turn back seeing that the soldiers were taken down.

"Told ya." I hear Stark say but I have a cold glare looking down at the man I killed and I drop my shield.

Even though he was dead I keep kicking and punching him.

"Mason stop he's dead!" He says but I don't.

"Mace stop! Calm down!" Bucky exclaims pulling me off of the guy but I push him away making my way back to the dead body.

"Stop! Stop! Stop! Mason Relax!" Natasha says pushing me by shoulders trying to get me to look at her.

"He's dead. He's gone." She tells me still having her hands on my shoulders but I step away.

"This is what I didn't want! Now I'm on their radar! Two years that I've been here and I was at peace now they're gonna keep getting on my ass!" I grit looking down at the man.
