Mother Knows Best

*The Next Day*

"Hello?" I say in a low tone as I answer Nisey's call.

"I know you not still sleep!"

"What do you want?"

"Momma said you better bring your behind over right now. She wants to talk."

"What?! She can't just call me so we can talk? I'm tired! I just woke up."

"No the hell I can't! Now bring your ass here little girl!"

"Ok mom I'll be there soon." She hangs up instead of saying goodbye. Nisey could've warned me that I was on speaker or something. I roll my eyes and stretch. What's so important that my mother and I can't talk over the phone about it?. I sigh and walk into my bathroom.

*30minutes later*

I'm finally dressed and headed out to my car. I'm ready to get this over with. My mother always just randomly decides to have conversations with Nisey and I any day/time. As I drive
towards my mother's house I can't help but think about Jason. I don't care if he thinks that I'm giving him a hard time because he deserves that shit. After everything I went through with him he should be glad I'm actually speaking to him. I pull into the driveway and turn my car off.

"Girl! You're not gone believe who just left!" Nisey yells running up to me as I get out the car.

"I don't have time for your guessing games."

"I'll let momma tell you then." She smirks. I roll my eyes at her and continue walking up the pathway. "I'm here ma!"

"Your mother's in the backyard Sasha!" My father calls out from the kitchen. I walk to the back of the house and see my mother sitting on the patio. "Hey momma."

"Don't hey momma me! What took you so long little girl?"

"I had just woke up when you guys.."

"Now Sasha James, you know the women in this family get up early . What was you doing still sleep? You not pregnant are you?"

"Momma you know Sasha is still a virgin." Nisey comes outside laughing.

"Some women like to keep their legs closed." I shoot back.

Watch it you two!"

"She started it!"

"I'm finishing it! Nisey go in the house. Your presence isn't needed."

"But ma..." Our mother glares at her and she turns around mumbling while walking back into the house. "Yea you keep mumbling!"

"Now Sasha," she turns her attention back towards me. "Jason tells me....." I tune her out after I hear his name. I know he didn't go to my momma with our bs. I can't believe this mother fu...

"Sasha!" My mother says smacking my thigh. Thank god I wore jeans,my mother is that one family member that everybody has that always wears too many rings and then hits you when she laughs or when you're not paying attention. She only has on two rings today.

"Yes mother?"

"We're you listening?"

"Yes ma." I say sounding so irritated.

"Oh so now you upset? I'm the one that should be upset since you not listening!"

"I'm sorry momma."

"Umhum, but like I was saying Jason came by earlier and we had a nice long talk. He told me that you two haven't been seeing eye to eye and that you're not even trying with him."

"Momma! You saw what all I went through when he left me."

"I know Sasha but regardless of that you two are going to have to find some common ground. You can't just ignore him."

"Why not? He has a wife and kids what could he possibly want with me?"

"Because I said so!"

"I can't believe you're taking his side."

"I'm not taking anybody's side! Stop whining girl. I'm just saying you guys need to compromise and find a common ground."

"Yes you are momma. Just admit it. You've always liked him."

"Whatever you want to call it Sasha James." She waves me off. I understand what my mother is saying but I don't know if it will work. I can't deal with Jason right now. It's just too many emotions going around right now so this plan of hers will have to be on the back burner until I figure out if I want to go through with it. But if I do decide I actually want to be friends with him will he accept it?. I just feel like he wants more from me and I just can't allow myself to give him that.

"Sasha? What are you thinking about?"

"Nothing momma."

"You're lying. Your father makes that same face when he in deep thought."

"It's nothing mom really."

"I hear you Sasha. Now come on let's go get some breakfast."

"You cooked?"

"Haha baby you funny. I did my part and now you and Nisey are taking me to IHOP." Dammit! She always does this.
