"You can't keep running away from him Sasha." My older sister Nisey says sitting down infront of me.
"Why the heck not? There's nothing stopping me."
"Mommy invited him to dinner this Sunday." She whispers.
"What!" I say raising my voice causing everyone to look at us in the crowded Starbucks.
"Calm yourself. You heard me."
"How'd she know he was..."
"He came by the other day, said he was back in town....For good." She stares directly into my eyes.
"And no one thought to warn me?"
"Umm I'm sorry?"
I roll my eyes before sighing.
"What am I going to do?" I question before places my hands over my face.
"Better think of something quick. Here he comes." She whisper yells.
"Hi Nisey!" He says cheerfully.
"Jason." She says extending her hand.
"May I sit?" He motions towards the seat next to me.
"I'm sure Sasha would enjoy some company. Love you sis but I gotta go." She gathers her things and rushes out of the door. Here we go again.
"What do you want Jason!" I say between clenched teeth.
"I want you to stop running away and actually listen."
"You weren't listening to me when I was trying to talk to you that day. So why should I?"
"I know Sash but...."
"No buts Jason. What's done is done. Id appreciate it if you kept your distance."
"No Sasha. I'm not going to do that. I love you."
"Haha that's really funny. If you loved me you wouldn't have a wife and kids. Just save it. GoodBye Jason."
----------------------------------------------
"Momma how could you?" I say walking right through the door ignoring my father.
"Nice to see you too Sasha." They both say together."Mom, you can't do this."
"Do what?"
"Nisey told me you invited Jason to dinner. I'm not coming if he's going to be there."
"Oh really? Last time I checked I'm your mother."
"Ma I'm 23 years old. You can't keep treating me like a child."
"You are my child though."
"Susan! Leave that girl alone. If she doesn't want to see her boyfriend then she doesn't have to." He says looking up from his newspaper."Ex daddy. He's my ex."
"That's what I said girl."
"Ugh. Mom please don't do this."
"It's done Sasha."
"Fine. But don't expect me to be happy about it." Why is this happening?. Why did he even come back. My life was fine and now he's back to ruin it.
"It'll be fine Sasha."
"Easy for you to say. I'll see you guys tomorrow." I sigh walking out to my car. After 30minutes of driving I finally pull up to my house and open my garage. I enter my house almost knocking everything over in the dark. I can't believe this. First he moves in next door and then I find out my mom invited him to dinner and didn't even tell me. I drag myself into my bedroom and plop down on my bed. I hear my house phone ringing but I decided that whoever it was could just talk to my voicemail."Hi this is Sash. No I'm not ignoring you, I'm probably out or sleeping. Leave a message and I'll try to return the call ASAP. Beep."
"I know you're at home awake Sasha. I think we really should talk tomorrow. I'll see you at the dinner. Goodnight." How does this man have my number. I know Nisey wouldn't give it to him. "Mom!" My mind screams. I know she always wanted us to be together forever but, we're over for good now. I hope she finally realizes that tomorrow. I wonder if he's bringing his wife and kids with him. I sigh deeply. This is going to be so awkward.
