"Ma'am, with all due respect, I don't think you going to see his family is a good idea." The agent replied.

"Are you questioning my competence?" Ruth asked sounding rude.

"No ma'am, I was just giving my concerns." He replied.

"Your concerns are not needed here. Get the car ready, we are leaving!" Ruth said harshly then she walked away.

The agent just went and did as ordered by his new boss, then Ruth later joined him and together with another one CID agent, they went to visit John's wife and children.

John knew that his family was at risk after his identity was known, but he had to make sure that Ben and Clara got to Claris before going to shift his family.

Ruth found John's wife seated outside basking in the sun, and their two kids were playing just a few metres from their mum. Ruth showed her the CID badge, then she said;

"We have reasons to believe that your life is in danger; your husband sent us to come pick you up."

Grace (John's wife), knew that her husband was a cop, so when Ruth told her that her husband had sent them, she believed her.

"Let me pack some few things." Grace replied as she got up.

"Grace, we don't have much time, the government will provide anything you and your kids need. You need to come with us now if you want to live." Ruth said trying to sound calm.

She was just scaring Grace so that she could convince her into going with them to the CID headquarters. Grace knew that John was just a cop, but she did not know which rank he or which department he was serving.

She called her two kids, then they got into Ruth's car and they drove off. On their way to the CID HQ, Grace was curious to know more about her husband's line of work; she decided to ask Ruth.

"Do you work with my husband?" She asked.

"Yes I do, he is my boss." Ruth lied.

"I never knew he was a CID agent! I now understand why he is never home." Grace said as she stared outside through the car's window.

Ruth was disgusted to hear Grace refer to John as a honorable man, but she could not tell her the truth yet, so she just faked a smile then stared outside as well.

Just then Grace's phone rang; it was John calling. Ruth had not figured that she had her phone with her, hence she had not bothered to make her leave it since she did not want her talking to her husband.

"John is calling." Grace said as she stared at the phone.

Ruth knew that if Grace took that call, everything would get ruined; she had to convince her not to take the call and to switch off her phone.

"Don't pick up the call." Ruth said.

"But why? It is John calling!" Grace asked sounding shocked.

"The people after you have access to all phone networks and they can be able to trace you with your phone. If you pick that call, you will have given then a through pass to your location and all this will be in vain since they will discover the safe place we are taking you. Just switch off your phone and once we get to the secure location, you will call John using a secure line and talk to him." Ruth lied.

"But I can answer the call and let my husband know that I am safe with you, then I throw away the phone! He needs to know that the kids and I are okay." Grace replied then she answered the call.

Just before she could speak, the driver stepped on the emergency brakes and the phone fell to the car's floor and broke the screen.

"What the hell was that Dan?" Ruth asked the driver harshly; she had hit her head.

"We have a problem ma'am." Dan replied.

"What's wrong?" Ruth asked as she peeped out through the front windshield.

There were four heavily armed men in front of them. When Ruth saw the four men who had closed the road, she turned to Grace and said;

"I told you! Your phone has sold us out!"

"Wh... Wha... What do we do now?" Grace asked trembling.

"Everybody remain calm, let us see what they want." Ruth replied calmly.

The four men then began walking towards the car slowly with their guns ready to strike. At the front, Dan was seated with the agent who had stopped Ruth from killing Bosco; then at the back seat, the two kids were sandwiched in between Ruth and their mum.

"Hands where I can see them!" One of the men shouted.

Dan pulled out his pistol, but Ruth asked him to take it back and place his hand on the wheel.

"Dan don't be stupid, you will get us killed. You will shoot one, then what? The other three will rain bullets on us all. Just put away your gun and place your hands where they can see them." She said to Dan.

Since she was his commanding officer, Dan obeyed and did as asked. The four men ordered Dan and the other agent in front to walk out of the car, then they handcuffed them and they took Grace, her two kids and Ruth.

There was nothing much the two agents could do other than watch their boss get kidnapped together with Grace and the kids. The four were thrown in the black van which the men had used to block the road, and it drove off.

By the time they managed to open the cuffs on their arms, the van was already long gone and it did not have any registration plates. Dan just stared at his colleague, then he asked;

"What do we do now?"

"What else can we do Dan? We have no choice but to call it in and inform the big boss." Agent Alex replied.

"Shit! It's barely twenty four hours after we rescued that poor boy who had been kidnapped and now we have four others snatched from us! These silly cops are beginning to be a pain in my ass!" Dan said sounding irritated.

"Let me call George and inform him about what has happened." Alex said as he took out his phone....
