Those Same Blue Eyes

Chapter 7

Rachel's POV
it was a long, slow drive home. i was in the passenger seat staring out the window when i feel a hand on my thigh take me out of thoughts. "penny for your thoughts?" Mia said not taking her eyes off the road. It was snowing slightly and looked so beautiful out. "This town is so beautiful, i'm so happy you decided to came back to my hometown for christmas!" i said with so much excitement. she squeezed my thigh "anything for you baby" she said still not taking her eyes off the road. she was so good to me. we met at the movie theater i work at. we quickly became bestfriends. we did everything together! after everything that happened with Emily went down, she was the only one there for me. I remember the night she told me she liked me like it was yesterday.

Flashback
Rachel's POV
"Okay! i have toy story 1,2 and 3. or we can watch a more serious movie. whatever you want! i have pizza on its way, i got ice cream for later. a lot of blankets. what am i forgetting?" I laughed at her as i watch her frantically walk back and forth. "Mia sit down! i'm fine. this isn't my first heartbreak." She sat next to me and looked at me with sad eyes. "you're my bestfriend, i don't like to see you sad. Ill fight Emily i swear! she's so stupid to hurt such a beautiful girl like you" i sighed and looked down at my phone. my background is still a picture of emily and me at the edge of town. i felt tears at the corner of my eye and i blinked rapidly to try to get them to stop. "you're allowed to cry and be upset. just know that emily will never hurt you again as long as i'm in your life. it's my bestfriend duty" she said grabbing my hand and squeezing it. i needed to do something to get my mind off emily. so i did the first thing that came to my mind and kissed mia. she pulled back confused and i bit my lip. "i'm sorry" she picked my chin up and kissed me again with more feeling. i melted into the kiss. she pulled away again and said "i've been wanting to do that since i met you. i've had a crush on you since i first laid eyes on you."

Before i knew it we were already at the house. My family accepted me after i graduated and they loved Mia but to them, she will never be Emily. My mom was the one who was quite fond of Emily actually but she never admitted it. She now says she cured my broken heart from Matt and helped me discover who i was. She's not wrong, Emily was the reason i came out. Again i was deep in thought that i didn't realize we pulled into my driveway. I was so excited to be back at my house. I know i still work in town but Mia and i have an apartment so i don't come here a lot.
