Wanda sat quietly at the conference table with the rest of the Avengers. They were going over a strategy for a mission and Wanda knew that she was expected to just listen and not participate as she was seen as a dangerous human.
"Wanda, you will be up in the hovercraft with Fury and Agent Hill, you can help with fight strategies when needed. However, you aren't trusted yet to do fieldwork but I want you to help as much as possible." Tony Stark patted the young woman on the shoulder, adjusting his glasses. Wanda only nodded in response. Natasha reached over next to her and squeezed Wanda's hand.
"Don't worry. You'll be out there in no time." Nat whispered in Wanda's ear. Soon after, the team meeting was complete and most of the team left. Wanda stayed sitting in her seat. Nat gave her a sad smile as she stood up.
"Wanda, come here. I need to talk to you." Stark said, waving his hand for her to come over. Wanda stood up and walked over to the man.
"What do you want, Stark?" The young woman asked.
"Ouch. That hurt, young witch." Stark out his hand over his heart, overreacting to Wanda's question. "I wanted to talk to you about getting back on the field. You've been working hard and your powers are more in control. I'll make a deal with you. If you work hard in training and help effectively on this mission, I'll let you use your powers on the next one. Deal?" Stark held out his hand.
Wanda smiled but immediately stopped. "What about the Accords? What about the government?"
"Don't worry about that. Just work hard and show them that you are not dangerous because I know and the rest of the team knows that you aren't. Do we have a deal?" Stark put his hands on each of Wanda's shoulders.
"Yes. We have a deal. Thank you, Stark." Wanda turned around and walked out of the room with a smile on her face.
"Everything alright, Wanda?" Vision asked, walking up to the young woman.
"Yes, Vizh. Everything is great. Stark's letting me go on the next mission as long as I do good in training and on this mission. That's all I have to do." Wanda said, smiling.
"That's good. You have been making a lot of progress lately. I think Stark might be proud even though he might not admit it. I guess I'll see in training this afternoon." Vision smiled. He put a hand on Wanda's shoulder, patting it.
A few days later, Wanda stood up in the hovercraft, next to Fury who was angry at Tony for not allowing Wanda to participate. The hovercraft was stationary in the air, masked by its invisibility feature.
"You should be down there. Your powers could really help us." Fury told the young woman as they stood and watched
"I know. Just following orders so I can be in the next one." Wanda had her hands behind her back, watching Nat and the rest of the Avengers do their work.
"Good idea." Fury stepped away and left Wanda alone. There were a few moments were Wanda had the urge to join in on the fight but knew that it would be best to stay put.
Wanda watched as Vision, Falcon, and Stark flew around in the air. Vision was very precise in his actions and knew exactly when to shoot and where to go. Vision turned, looking around, catching Wanda's gaze. Wanda smiled and waved. Vision smiled in response and turned back to the fight, flying away.
"Wanda, we could really use your help down here. I give you full permission to protect the civilians." Stark's voice said in her ear communicator.
"I'll be right there. Where do you want me?" Wanda asked, pulling her leather gloves on.
"Entrance of the hospital. Make a force field and protect those who are trapped." Stark replied.
"Got it." Wanda ran over to the entrance of the hovercraft and flew down, landing on her feet in front of the hospital. She gathered the people watching the Avengers in awe into the hospital and made a large force field. She flew up in the air and stayed in one place, holding the force field.
"Wanda, nice to see you out here." Vision said flying next to the young witch.
"Yeah, Stark needed me to keep the innocents safe, so here I am," Wanda replied, turning her head towards the AI.
"Well, you're doing great." Vision smiled until he heard an explosion from far away. "I better go make sure that wasn't one of ours." Wanda nodded and kept doing what she was doing.
A few hours later, the team was safe and back on the hovercraft, tending to any wounds. The group sat in a conference room, going over the mission.
"Everyone did great today. The enemy has been caught and we are all alive. Wanda, I want to thank you for your help today. Even though it might not have felt important, you save many people's lives today. Dismissed." Stark told the team.
Wanda walked out of the room, smiling with confidence. Nat patted the young girl's shoulder as she left, nursing a shoulder wound and whispered "Good job kid."
Vision came up to the young woman, smiling. "Wanda, welcome back to the team." He wrapped an arm around Wanda's waist, pulling her into him.
"Thanks, it feels good to be back, even if I am not fighting," Wanda said before she pulled Vision's head down to kiss his lips. "Let's change into something more comfortable for the rest of the night." Wanda took Vision's hand and pulled him towards the changing rooms.
