Elaine
I see Gwen while walking up to the school. She smiles and comes my way.
"Hey Rose" She says approaching me. Tatiana turns to me and says bye before walking away with Bea. I know that they don't like Gwen that much, but that was a little rude.
"Sorry about them." I mumble "Sometimes they just get like that"
"It's fine. I really couldn't care less." Gwen replies. "Anyway how did you get my Snapchat last night?"
"Oh, right, I just asked Maggie. I was bored and I needed someone to talk to. Sorry if I bothered you." Last night when I Snapchated Gwen she didn't reply to me. I hope that she doesn't just want to talk to me in school. Before the roleplay started Gwen and I didn't really talk that much. I mean sure we're in the same friend group but she was distant with me. We weren't as close as I was with other people in the group, like Nash and Marrissa. When we started the roleplay I remembered how close our characters were, made me a little nervous, but also a little excited to get to know her better. I wanted to talk more with Gwen.
"Oh yeah, sorry I couldn't respond to you, I was at my dad's house which equals no wifi.". Good. At least I don't have to worry about her not wanting to talk to me anymore.
"But I am at my mom's house tonight if you want to talk."
"Sure." She smiles at me, that's when I realize that we are already at the SOS™ box. I know that they didn't hear any of our conversation, since we weren't talking very loud. It's almost the end of May and it's pouring outside. First break is indoors, no surprise there. It's almost the end of fourth period, right before the second break, and it's still pouring. I pack up my things during five minutes before the bell and stare out the window of the classroom, watching the rain hit the cars in the parking lot.
"Hey," I hear Nash's voice behind me. I turn my head, he and Maggie are standing behind me with their rain jackets on.
"What the hecking heck, why are you wearing rain jackets? You can't go off property it's absolutely awful outside. It almost looks like the streets are going to flood." I tell them.
"We're are going off. We've been inside for way to long, you should come with us. Did you bring a jacket?" answers Nash.
"Yes, but i'm not sure if I really want to have a cold for the next week."
"Fine, don't come loser. But everyone else is going"
I look over at the doorway and see Marrissa, Ren and Alex, all in there rain jackets. They're stupid. Just when I'm about to look away I see another figure walks through the doorway. Gwen is buttoning up the top of her rain jacket, making her way over to me.
"You coming?" she asks
"Um no, i'll pass on getting sick but thanks"
"C'mon were all going!"
"I've already told you, I don't want to get sick!"
She smiles at me and grabs my hand, pulling me out of my seat and into the hallway. The bell just rang and there is a stampede of students in the hallway. Gwen holds my hand tighter, so she doesn't lose me to the pack of what seems like wild animals instead of students. We stop at my hook and she hands me my raincoat and rubber boots.
"Here, put these on and let's go out and splash around in the rain with our friends."
"I don't know..."
"C'mon Rosie, I'm not going to leave you here by yourself."
"I won't be by myself. I have Tatiana and Bea."
"Remember? You told me that everyone was going to Tatiana's house for lunch and you wanted to stay here with us so you blew them off."
"Crap. Fine. I'll go."
"Good, now hurry up, you are wasting precious puddle jumping time!". We walk up to the rest of our friends.
"All right hypothermia here we come!" Maggie says. Everyone laughs while I hit my hand in my head. What did i just get myself into.
The bell rings and we run back into the school soaked. The next period is a free period so I put the finishing touches on my math journal project. Gwen walks up to my desk holding a piece of paper.
"Hey" she says while approaching my desk. "How is your math journal going?"
"Fine I guess," I reply, "I'm just putting the finishing touches on it. What about you?"
"I'm done, look at the poster I made."She places the piece of paper onto my desk. It's a very bright multi colour poster explaining all of the math facts for this unit.
"Nice. My hair is still gross because someone, not going to name any names, but it was you, made me go outside in the rain."
"Hey, you should be thanking me. We got Nash to sit in a puddle, you would have missed that if you stayed here."
"Well, thanks for letting me see that but I have work to do so please, leave."
Gwen rolls her eyes and starts walking back to her desk. I notice a trail of mud that leads from my desk. I quickly glance down at my shoes, socks, not me. I look up and see that Gwen still has her rain boots on. Facepalm. I get up and walk over to her desk.
"I thought you had work to do," Gwen says,
"I do, but I think that you still have your boots on" I smile and walk back to my desk, avoiding the path of mud.
