Lance watched the HYDRA agents spread out to search for anyone hiding and gently shook the girl beside him, she flinched away and started to let out a yelp but he covered her mouth and muffled the sound.

“Stay with me. I’m going to get us out of here safely.” He told her lowly.

Kasey didn’t respond but he didn’t wait for her to because any minute they would be discovered unless they moved and met up with the other teams. Lance grabbed her wrist and started walking swiftly towards the exit, making sure to keep low to the ground and in the shadows. Unfortunately there were more HYDRA agents than he thought and heard them shouting as they saw him moving.

“Its S.H.I.E.L.D. get them!” The leader of the group shouted.

“Crap!” Lance stood up and abandoned all attempts to stay unseen.

The HYDRA agents took out their guns and Lance pushed the girl out in front of him since out of the two of them he was the one in a bullet proof vest, though that wouldn’t do anything if he were shot in the arms, legs, or head. They were closing in on the doorway when Skye come in with May, at first he thought they were here to help, but then he saw Ward; their old friend turned traitor, the prisoner who escape, following them at a leisurely pace and a gun trained at their backs.

“Where are the others?” Lance asked.

“Team One was a little too good. They shot them all. Team Two were killed off after HYDRA found them near the power grid… we’re the only ones left.” May informed him.

            “Wonderful…”

Ward caught up and gave Kasey a confused look before putting Lance in handcuffs identical to the ones Skye and May were wearing. Kasey backed away as he took out another pair but he grabbed her arm and locked them onto her wrists.

“Now I’ll only warn you four once.” Ward growled as he led them outside. “Try to escape and these will shock you with the press of a button.”

“And if the guard doesn’t have a remote?” Lance asked cockily. “What then? Are they going to call someone who does?”

“Yes.” Ward glared at him. “But since I have a remote and I caught you… I’m staying to guard you. Which means don’t tick me off or I’ll shock you just enough so your heart doesn’t stop.”

            “Ooh, I’m so scared.”

Ward pressed a button on a bracelet he was wearing and Lance clenched his teeth but couldn’t stop a groan of pain escape. “That was a warning now shut up.”

“Why are you doing this?” Skye asked. “You didn’t capture the others.”

“You have more information than the other teams.” Ward walked up to her and whispered but Kasey was close enough to hear everything. “Please, just do what HYDRA tells you and you won’t be hurt.”

Skye glared at him but he’d already turned away and was examining Kasey. She gave him a cold look; the numbing disbelief was gone, only replaced by confusion and anger. “What do you want?”

Ward’s hand twitched towards the button but he didn’t shock her. “I didn’t realize S.H.I.E.L.D. was desperate enough to hire kids to do their dirty work.”

“She’s not with us.” Skye hissed. “Just let her go she’s an innocent girl.”

“I can’t. She’s seen too much… besides my boss would love the chance at getting a new agent to train.”

Lance put his hands on Kasey’s shoulders and drew her back towards him protectively as they all fell into silence; Ward waited for the rest of the HYDRA agents to come out before typing something into his phone and looking up at the sky. Kasey started shifting around on her feet and settled for watching what the agents were doing to pass the time and distract herself from what had only happened minutes before. Eventually two helicopters appeared and landed nearby, Ward walked forward and greeted the closest pilot before motioning for the other agents to bring the prisoners into the helicopter, they left again once the S.H.I.E.L.D. agents were inside and Kasey watched them as they loaded some crates from the military site into the other copter before climbing into it themselves.

“They’re ready. We can go back to base.” Ward commanded the pilot. They nodded in response and pressed a few buttons on the control panel before the helicopter took off with the second one close behind.
