Morgan and Reid sat in an SUV, parked in a driveway. They were at the distressed mother's house, and neither of them were very willing to get out of the car.

"So, who's taking the lead on this?" Morgan asks.

"Due to your tone of voice, I'm going to guess that you want me to offer?"

He exhales, smiling. "Well, yeah."

Reid nods, laughing a little. "Yeah, that's fine. Let's go, then."

Derek seems to appreciate the lack of complication. Spencer had always been a no-nonsense kind of person, and it made things like these a lot easier.

The two get out of the car, then begin to walk towards the front door.

The house was small, but not too small. It seemed adequate for a single mom and one child.

"Nice house, decent income," Reid mumbles under his breath. He didn't neccessarily aim the statement towards Morgan, as it was more of a note-to-self.

He then knocks on the door, waiting for a response, with Derek standing directly behind him.

Within thirty seconds, the door swings open, revealing a woman, presumed to be the mother.

She had thin blonde hair, and held an expression that made her look constantly in panic. The woman didn't say anything when she saw the two men. She simply stared, waiting for them to do something.

"Alison Davis?" Reid inquires. Garcia had given everyone a rundown on the woman, so Spencer knew quite a bit about her already.

Including the fact that her baby's father left her, and her son was a 14 year old boy named Miles.

"Yes," she slowly confirms, sounding quite baffled.

He nods, giving an explanation. "I'm Dr. Spencer Reid, with the Behavioral Analysis Unit of the FBI. This is Agent Derek Morgan."

Her eyes light up, and she asks, "Did Agent Hotchner send you?"

Before he can answer, she adds, "Please, come in."

They accept the offer, entering the house.

Reid immediately sees multiple crosses and Christian symbols across the room. He doesn't see them for long, but he takes note of each and every one.

She directs them to the living room, prompting them to sit.

"Yes, Agent Hotchner is our direct superior," Reid finally confirms. He sits on the arm of a couch, keeping his eyes on Alison. "He mentioned that you called numerous times."

"I did," she assures, "I didn't want to cause a disturbance, but my son is missing and no one will do anything about it." She has a certain look in her eye that made her seem almost insane.

Reids eyes widen for a split second as he wonders how crazy people could get. Parental love was intense, sure. But some people just need to learn to take a loss.

Derek exchanges a glance with him, probably thinking the same exact thing.

"Well, we've taken this under our jurisdiction, so it's a BAU case now," Reid says, a bland tone to his voice. "I... well, I frankly just need to know what you want us to do from here, ma'am. It's nearly a dead end."

Morgan immediately jumps in, trying to make Reid understand that was too far. "What Dr. Reid means is that we don't know very much about how your son disappeared. There was barely any information on how it happened from your interview."

"That would be because I don't know how he disappeared," she says, melancholy filling her words. "I went to bed, and when I woke up, he was gone."

Reid shakes his head the smallest amount. "That isn't much to work with."
