It was around ten in the morning when Brenda woke up to prepare for the day. Stretching out her tired limbs she groaned when she felt how stiff her back was. Getting up from her bed, she lazily walked into her bathroom to turn on her shower.

Scrubbing herself clean she soon brushes her teeth and hair after she gets out and then puts her outfit on for the day. It would be a simple day for Brenda, she didn't have much to do besides get some coffee and then later on go to Tej's shop to work on her car.

Running a hand through her hair she gives herself a quick look in the mirror to check and see if there were any minor errors from her hair to her shoes and is satisfied with how she looks in the end.

Grabbing her purse, she makes her way down stairs and out of her house. It was one of those rare days where it wasn't really hot in Miami, it was sunny but the air wasn't thick and scorching, it was cool and just right. Deciding to walk today, she makes her way to the cafe about a block away from her house and walks inside.

Right off the bat she can smell the sweet scents of honey and cinnamon which made her smile in delight. She could see Joann the owner at the register and her husband Rick kneading the dough for whatever baked sweet that was being prepared.

"And where have you been missy?" Joann asked Brenda with her hands on her hips and her eyebrows raised.

"Reality sucks Joann, you of all people should know that." Brenda said with a smile as Joann rung up her usual order which consisted of hot green tea and soft glazed donut. Paying for the food she sends a quick wave to Rick before going to sit at one of the outside tables.

Setting her drink and donut down she pulled out her copy of 'Persepolis' and began reading while occasionally taking a few bites and sips of her meal.

"Never took you for a political type." The same sensation of the tiny hairs on the back of her neck prick up and she pushes while flipping through mid-page.

She didn't think she would see him again. In fact, she didn't think she would see him ever again after their first encounter. Turning around, she evaluates him from head to toe; hair still curly but loose, red button up with the first two undone, tan slacks and expensive shoes. Handsome as ever.

"Not political, just curious." She stated bluntly.

Carter smirked at the tone of her voice, she was trying to get him to go away, but even he knew how he was affecting her. She watched as he boldly took the seat that was right next to her and took a piece of her donut.

"That's my donut." She squinted her eyes as she glared at him which he in return smiled mischievously.

"You can't buy your own?" She asked him annoyed. "Assuming you own your own club you should be able to get your own." She pestered on as she took a sip of her tea again.

"But where's the fun in that? Especially when there's a beautiful lady that I don't want out of my sight." He tried to charm her. Her face was blank and she resisted the urge to roll her eyes.
