Doctors of kinds examined Iracebeth but saw no way to undo the damage done. They all agreed that bed rest was probably the most hopeful solution however the red queen despised the suggestion, and had an unlikely supporter of her decision; the hatter.
"If the queen does not wish to be stuck in bed whiles others search of someone who is important to her, well then don't try and force her there, " Tarrant argued.
"What if you get injured further, Racie!" Mirana asked her sister.
"At least we will know because she is with us, rather than Iracebeth sneaking out like a child, unknowst to us and getting hurt!"
"Like you said, my boy, like a child and the queen of hearts is not a child," Zanik countered.
"Iracebeth may not be a child but I know it is what I would do if I were in her position and Alice was the one injured and missing," Tarrant added quietly. That seemed to satisfy everyone, Iracebeth was allowed to stay up provided she rested often and was constantly supervised and the hatter earned a passionate kiss from his wife. But next came the difficult part.
"Iracebeth can you tell us your history with Felmont," Alice asked.
"Yes, but please don't think even less of me, I'm not that person anymore," the red queen sighed.A chorus of yes your majesties and we know Iracebeths and one of course Racie crossed the room.
"Felmont Stayne was Ilosovic's older brother, he was stronger, faster; in general, just more robust. He fell in love with a witch who tended his wounds, which he acquired whiles hunting on his own in a very dangerous wood on the edge of our lands and the Outlands, without authorisation. He had wanted to impress me yet when he returned, he was a different man. He wished to leave my service for her, immediately I ordered her death and instead of allowing me to drag her back to the palace for torture and public execution he begged to do it himself, provided they were alone and in her cottage. So, being cruel I asked him to bring me back her heart and told him after he returned guards would check to see if her body was there. He did as asked. Shortly after that, Ilosovic got injured and Felmont ever loyal to his brother was granted absence to take care of him. I never actually saw him again after that for, once he was recovered, the Stayne's parents fell gravely ill, I suspected that the witch's coven sent the curse, his father died rather quickly but his mother suffered for years. By her death Ilosovic had risen the ranks and taken Felmont's place and my husband was dead. Felmont would have been useless and expendable in my court there for it would have been too dangerous for him to return."
The throne room was silent for a while after that, no one spoke as so many things were going through their minds that they were afraid what they would say would come out wrong.
Sorry short chapter but we're getting there!
