Luke's POV//
I meant to call Lucy.. I really did.. I've just been forgetting. Were constantly doing concerts and getting on planes and driving everywhere and it's been hard to find the time.. And quiet to call her.. "I'll call you later I promise." I texted her and sighed and set my phone down and looked out the car window... I hope she's not mad...
Lucy's POV//
"I'll call you later I promise." Luke texted and I rolled my eyes and set down my phone.. I looked in the mirror and finished putting on a dab of makeup.. I was in blue jeans, brown uggs and a dark green knit sweater.. My brown hair was curled so it looked natural and I was all set to go meet with my publisher.. I've been trying to get my book published for the last couple years...
I wrote it awhile ago of course.. After years of scribbling poems and quotes on old napkins and writing little short stories and stuff luke suggested I write a book. Which I did. I never let luke read it because I always told him I wanted him to read the fresh published book.. Not the final draft that was printed out from my laptop..
I walked out of the house and got in my car and drove to the publishers store and walked in.. "Hi.. I'm Lucy, I had an appointment with nick at 6.." I said to the woman behind the desk.. "Alright have a seat.. We'll be with you in a moment." She said and I nodded and sat down.. I took my draft out of my bag and took a deep breath as I looked at it.. I really hope this is it.. I've been turned down by soooo many publishers... "Lucy.. Nicks ready for you.. Go back to room two." She said and I nodded and got up and walked back into the room and opened the door. "Lucy maxwell.." Said a man who I figured was nick and he turned around in his swivel chair and smiled. "Come come sit please." He said. His high pitched British accent piercing the room. I walked over and sat down..
"I must say I rather enjoyed your book miss maxwell.. The plot of the story was... Cute.." He said. "Thank you." I said nervously.. "I loved it.. The ending was quite different.." He said. "I'm glad you liked it." I said with a smile. "But I won't publish it." He said and my smile turned to a frown. "Why not!?" I asked. "It's too.. What's the word.. Too highschooly.. The girl likes the boy yet he doesn't like her back.. He goes on to become a singer and then soon realized he's loved her.. I publish adult books here. Not young adult books." He said. "But you said you liked it!" I said. "I did. As a young adult novel.. Here's some young adult publishers for you to contact.." He said sliding a piece of paper across the table which I tore up and threw on the ground as I stood up. "This isn't a young adult book!" I shouted. "Seems like one." He said. "Whatever." I said and turned and left and ran out to my car and got in and burst into tears.. I grabbed my phone to call luke but then stopped.. "He's too busy for me.." I whispered the threw my phone on the passenger seat of my car...
I grabbed the final draft of my book and cried as I tore it into pieces and threw the pieces out the window... "I'm just not meant to be happy at all.." I whispered and drove away from the publishers....
Luke's POV///
I woke up to see the sunlight shining through the window and got up and realized I forgot to call Lucy...I dialed her number and by the 5th ring she answered. "Hello?" She asked sounding tired. Probably up all night writing again. "I'm so so sorry I didn't call you last night.. We got to the hotel and I fell asleep and totally forgot!" I explained. "Yeah whatever." She said and I heard a page turn in the background. She was probably up reading. "Are you mad at me?" I asked. She chuckled and sighed. "No luke I'm overjoyed you didn't call. I'm so glad you're not calling or texting or skyping or doing anything you promised." She said sarcastically.. "Luc I'm sorry.." I said. "Save it luke.. I'm sick of this." She said. "Sick of what?" I asked. "You promising to call but never calling. I see all this stuff online about you out partying and all this bullshit and I'm tired of being the extra thing that you gotta do. You're obviously having too much fun without me so why don't you just stop trying to call me at all." She said. "Lucy.. Calm down.. I've been busy and I've tried to call you I swear." I explained. "Shut up luke. Just stop calling. I'm done with all this bullshit." She said and hung up...
I set my phone down and sat there a minute in the bed thinking.. She's really mad.. She's never been so mad.. We've had small fights but in the end it always works out.. But never a fight like this.. "Hey buddy we gotta go to sound check." Said Ashton poking his head in the room.. "Oh yeah.. Coming.." I muttered and got up and sighed.. Maybe not all friendships last when you're famous.....
Lucy's POV///
I threw my phone across the room and burst into tears.. I can't believe this.. I didn't mean to tell luke all that stuff and how I felt but it all came out... I shook my head and wiped the tears away and set down my book and grabbed my laptop and sat back and opened Microsoft word 360 and started typing... "The Day He Left Me."
