"(Y\N)! Go start hunting!"
You couldn't take this anymore. Janja was always ordering you around. You couldn't stand it. It had been 12 lion years since your mom and dad abandoned you when you were a cub. Janja had taken you in, and you, being so young and naive, thought he was nice. But after about a week, he started treating you like his clan's personal slave.
"Okay, okay! I'm going!" You growled as You marched towards the den exit. Your ears flattened.
"(Y\N). Come here." Janja said. You bared your teeth and growled softly. But you did as he commanded. You went and sat at his paws.
"What did we talk about? No disr-"
"..respect towards the leader, you. I know." You said, fighting back tone. Janja petted you from head to tail with his paw, but he didn't do it lightly. His claws caught on your skin, and you winced. But you didn't care. Janja then pushed you away. Very roughly.
"Now go!" He hissed. Tears formed in your eyes, and you ran, hearing the cackling of hyenas behind you. You ran, tears streaming down your face. Every night, on every shooting star you saw, you wished for the Lion Guard to rescue you. They never came. You stopped in your tracks to see a herd of antelope. Your stomach growled. It had been months since you have had a proper meal; your ribs could be seen. Your mouth watered as you crouched down, getting ready to pounce. You snuck up quietly, and then...
"KION, WHERE ARE WE GOING?!" A voice said, very loudly. Loud enough to scare the antelope away.
Who in the name of Mufasa- you thought, but was interrupted by an exasperated lion cub walking through the long golden grass. He was... Amazing. His red, not fully grown mane rippled in the light breeze, his golden pelt, and his eyes... Everything about him was perfect. Your gaze fell on the lion symbol on his left shoulder. He was Kion, leader of the Lion Guard! You forgot about eating, but then you felt a... Bird land on your head.
"There's no use- oh, hello! Who may you be?" The bird asked. You trembled and didn't speak. This got the bird worried.
"Kion, c'mmere!" He yelled. You gulped as Kion and his friends made their way to you. Once the cheetah saw you, she ran over immediately."Oh, Kion! Look at her, she looks terrible! She's dirty, and thin, she looks like she hasn't eaten in a long time, and... Oh, she's so frightened, Kion!" She exclaimed.
Wow... I never knew cheetahs could be such softies. You thought. This cheetah made you feel better. You tried to stand up, but your legs gave out. Kion and the hippo ran over.
"Hey, you okay?" Kion asked. You didn't answer, you were in so much pain, you were dirty and starving. Kion knew at once you weren't okay, so he picked you up on his back.
"Ono, go tell my mom and dad that we're going to bring back a cub that's in need of special assistance!" He said urgently. The bird, Ono, put his wing to his head and flew off.
"Bunga, get on my back!" The cheetah yelled. You felt yourself being carried... A far distance. Finally, after what seemed like forever, you were put down. Even in a weak state, you could hear murmers around you. Finally, you fell asleep in pain and sadness.
You woke up to someone poking your head.
"Is she awake now?" A voice asked. You opened your eyes softly to see him being pushed away.
"Not yet, Bunga! Give her some room!" A girl's voice, most likely the cheetah, said. But the honey badger, Bunga, ran back over to you. He saw you open your eyes.
"She is! She's waking up! Kion, she's waking up!" He cried as you stirred. You put a paw to your head as you saw everyone crowd around you at once. You immediately got scared and started crying.
"I'll go hunt now, please, I didn't do anything to you! Don't hurt me!" You cried as you backed away, thinking it was Janja and his clan. Suddenly, you felt a nose against yours. You opened your eyes and you saw Kion. You blushed.
"It's okay... You're okay now. No one here is going to hurt you. If we had known you were in need of help, we would have come sooner." He said, pulling away. Then, a fully grown lioness came. Her eyes widened and she smiled softly when she saw you awake.
"I am Queen Nala, but you can just call me Nala. I'd like you to come with me so I can bathe you." She said. You looked at the floor in embarrassment. Kion nudged you towards her.
"It's okay, uh...." His voice trailed off, as you had never gave him your name.
"(Y/N)." You said. Kion smiled.
What a beautiful name... For a beautiful cub. He thought.
"(Y/N)... I love that." Kion said, grinning from ear to ear. For some reason, you smiled back. Nala took you to the lionesses' den, and started to bathe you. You were incredibly dirty. Once she finished, you looked at your reflection in a puddle. You had forgotten what you really looked like... You had (S/C) fur, plus (H/C) colored chest fur that was very fluffy, along with a small amount of hair on top. It was sleek and shiny, but a bit more messy. The only thing that really stood out all these years were your eyes. They were a (E/C) color. You bounced with joy, but you still hadn't eaten yet.
"Your Majesty, er... Nala... May I please have something to eat?" You ask timidly. Nala nods, and motions her head to a freshly caught jack rabbit.
"Kion caught that for you... Everyone's starting to think he likes you." She said with a wink. You felt your cheeks heat up. Kion... Caught the rabbit for you? No, that wasn't right. You needed to repay him. But... It smelled amazing. You walked over to it and chowed down (lmao sorry?).
"Mmm, this is amazing!" You said after you swollowed a bite. Nala laughed.
"Kion was hoping you would like it... By the way, he said he wanted to hang out with you today. Just the two of you." She said. Your stomach did a flip flop. And it didn't feel good, based on how much food was still in your belly.
"Kion... Wants to... Hang out with me?" You ask nervously. Nala nodded.
"He wants to get to know you."
You nod, and smile. Come to think of it, Kion did bring you back and he caught you the rabbit... You wanted to thank him properly. You bowed to Nala and left to find Kion. He was sitting alone on a rock.
"Um... Kion?" You ask. He turned around, and you could have sworn you saw his face turn red. He walked up to you and nuzzled your face. You nuzzled back.
"(Y/N)... Wow, uh... You look beautiful." He said. You blushed.
"Um, really?" You ask. He nods.
"So... I wanted to-"
"Hang out with me today, I know. Nala told me. By the way, thanks for catching that jack rabbit for me... You know you didn't have to do that." You said looking down. Kion lifted your head with his.
"Hey, I wanted to. It was no problem, really." He said. You smile.
"Now, how about we get to having fun?" He asked with a smirk.
