Thomas threw me a spear and Newt grabbed a huge stick. We went outside and the sun was setting, so we stood in the middle of the Glade, waiting for the grievers to attack. We waited for almost three hours before I had to say something.

"They know."

"Who knows what?" Minho asked.

"Whoever the hell put us here. They know our plan, so they somehow controlled the grievers to stay in the maze and attack us."

"Them bloody shucks." Newt grimaced.

"We have to go in or it'll never happen." I shivered in fear and heard a few gulps. "Chuck, you stay with Thomas and Teresa, Alby and Minho stay together, and I'll stay with Newt. Everyone else get with somebody and watch your backs. If we go down, just know we went down fighting and not just hiding here like the others. I believe what Gally said about them coming every night and they will die if they stay. Anyone have a pep talk or something?"

"Be careful. Don't die." Minho readied his spear and we all ran into the west wall.

The maze twisted and turned. We went the way to the griever hole and haven't met any grievers just yet. The closer we got, though, the more we could hear them.

We turned a corner and Thomas told us to prepare ourselves. Newt and I put our backs together and looked around as we slowly turned the corner.

"Thomas! Behind you!" Just as I pointed, Thomas turned around and beat the living shuck out of the griever. More grievers came and we got to the griever hole.

"Amelia, no!" I turned around to see what Newt was talking about when I was picked up by a huge claw. The griever slung me around while everyone jabbed it with their sticks.

"Hey, griever!" Alby dropped his spear and held his arms out. "If your gonna kill somebody, kill me!"

The griever dropped me on the ground and new t picked me up bridal style and threw me off of the cliff. I fell for a few seconds and landed with a thud. There was a keypad in the room and a door.

A few seconds later, Thomas dropped down with Chuck and Teresa. We started to put in the code when a griever came in and tried to attack us. Thomas beat the ever living ness out of it while Teresa and I finished the code.

"It's not working!" I quickly put the code in again and it beeped, indicating that it was wrong.

"Try that button." Chuck pointed to a red button under the keypad.

"Push!" I typed the words in again and pushed the button. The griever stopped and fell over. "We did it!"

A little hole opened and about 40 of the gladers jumped down. Newt ran to me and hugged me tight.

"Look, I know we have only known each other for like three days, but I had a dream and I was in love with you in it and I realized that I had that feeling when I woke up and saw you this morning." He confessed. "I was too scared to tell you, but when I saw that griever grabbed you, I realized I needed you to know."

"Wow." I smiled. "I like you, Newt. It's not love yet, but I'm sure it'll come."

"That's okay." He smiled softly.

"What do we do now?" Minho asked.

"I guess we go in there." I pointed to the hole in the wall.

"I'll go first." Newt crawled in head first and started yelling. "Come down feet first!"

I slowly scooted into the small hole and slid down a twisty slide. I heard someone coming behind me and I saw lights in front of me. I flew out of the slide and landed on my ass, but Newt helped me up.

I looked around and there was windows above us. One person sat at each window watching us. They didn't move or speak, they just sat. Thomas flew out of the slide and went to run out, but gunshots rang out.

The people in the windows fell over dead and the doors opened. A woman wearing a white suit came in next to a tall guy in a black hoodie with his face covered.

"Congratulations, you have completed your maze trial and now you are moving on to the next one-"

"Why the hell did you put us here!?" Thomas shouted.

The guy in the hoodie pulled out a dagger. He chucked it at Thomas and I watched it in slow motion as it twisted and turned.

"Thomas, no!" Chuck jumped in front of him and the dagger slammed into his chest.

"Chuck!" Thomas screamed and held the boy's limp body.

The guy took his hoodie off to reveal Gally. "Gally! You freaking killed him! What's wrong with you!?" I ran to him and pushed him down.

My fist connected with his jaw and he flinched. I repeatedly punched him until he was unconscious. Newt grabbed me by my arms and pulled me up. I buried my head in his chest and let my tears flow.

The doors flew open again and men shot the woman. "We're here to save you!" They shouted. "Come with us!"

Newt and I pried Thomas off of Chuck's body and dragged him out of the building. The leftover gladers followed close behind and we walked down a long, familiar hallway until we reached a cluster of rooms.

We sat a table in the middle of the rooms and a guy dressed in white sat at a desk at the far end of the room. He has a weaselly face and a rat like expression.

"Hey Rat Man," Minho shouted. "Where the hell are we?"

"Don't use that tone with me." He said calmly.

"Why the hell not?" I got up and went to get face to face with the rat man, but I ran into a window thing.

"Don't even try little one." The man sneered. "I've known you since you were five years old. I know every move you make before you're gonna make it."

A sharp pain went through my head as I saw flashes of the man's face. I grabbed the sides of my head and fell to the ground. A series of shouts wound up, starting with Thomas.

"What did you do to her!?"

"You shucking prick!"

"Amelia! Look at me!" I lifted my head and Newt helped me up.

"What the hell was that?" I grimaced.

"You just remembered some of your past." Rat Man stated simply.

"Geez, what's wrong with you?" Minho asked.

"You all will be staying in your designated rooms." Rat Man pointed to the closest room to me.

Everyone got up and started walking towards it, but a hand wrapped around me arm and yanked me away. "Hey!" Newt grabbed my other arm. "Be easy with her."

"She'll be fine." Rat Man pulled me to the room.

"I'll see you in the morning." Newt smiled softly.

"Goodnight Newt." I went into the room, but I stayed at the door.

I decided to go to the guys' room, but when I opened the door, Newt was in the doorway about to knock.

"Hi." He grinned. "I was wondering if you would be my girlfriend?"

"I'd love to." I smiled as I hugged him quickly. We let go and looked at each other for a second, before he grabbed my face and kissed me.
