AN: sorry guys its been a really long time since I've updated this. I've had a lot of trouble with school, and even during the summer i got distracted easily and had a major writers block. i hope to get a scheduled together for all of my stories but i don't think i have the time at the moment. i don't want to discontinue the book because this is one of my first original stories and i love it to pieces. Anyways, i finally finished this chapter and i hope you enjoy.
ps. i am moving so it might take a bit for the next chapter to come out but a shorter wait the you have previously had to wait.
pss. i was recently diagnosed with mild depression and i hope that it will not get in the way of my writing. in fact when I'm feeling especially down and want to be alone i usually write anyways, so i hope it will speed things along in the way that i want the story to go. sorry i'm talking so much anyways...ON TO THE STORY! :3
Delphie Pov
"Sweet Dreams Del" I heard a voice say, i didn't know where it came from but I didn't care i like the sound of the voice and I hoped that I would hear it again in my dreams.
I was back in the sky. Falling accelerating toward the ground. I closed my eyes shut waiting for impact. But it never came. I opened my eyes and looked around... the scene had changed I was now in a warehouse. It looked odd from the other warehouses i had been to...it looked used? But not in a way you would normally use a warehouse. It looked like someone had been living there. I tried looking around for maybe other people, but realized I had been bound to a chair. I struggled to release myself. But I used a sharp edge of a ring that I didn't have before and cut the rope. After I got up and looked around, I looked at the chair I was bound to, i looked at the warehouse, and I looked at the ring on my finger... it was on my left hand, on my ring finger it looked like an engagement ring. I wonder who gave it to me. I heard yelling outside the warehouse.
"DELPHIE! Are you in there?!"
I tried responding but my voice wouldn't work. I struggled to walk to the window, I felt heavy like I had been put to sleep. When I finally got to the window a crash came from the other side. I slowly turned my head and due to the heaviness my vision was getting blurry, but I could make out two male figures. When I regained my vision slightly i could tell that one of the men was really cute from far away. As they got closer I realized that the cute one was...Vinent, i instantly felt embarrassed for thinking that way towards him. The other man I did not recognise. They men started to race to see who could get to me first. Vincent won and he wrapped me in his arms, when he let go I missed the warmth of his embrace. Vincent turned to the other man and startled yelling at him. I didn't hear all of it but i did hear bits and pieces... something about if the man I did not recognise ever lay a hand on me then Vincent would make sure he wouldn't live to see the next day. My eyes were slipping shut and I was drifting in and out of sleep consciousness. Adn things were getting blurry again. The last thing I saw before my eyes shut was Vincent looking back at me smiling.
When i woke up i couldn't see a thing. I lay there remembering my dream as my eyes focused in the light. What an odd dream i thought. Why would i dream of needing to be saved. Why did I have an engagement ring on? Who was i engaged to? And last of all, who was the man who I needed 'saving' from? I sat up and my head started spinning, as I slowly stood up, I tried taking a few steps but my weak knees buckles after the first few. I heard a flap of wings and instantly Vincent was at my sides being my support beam.
"Be careful del. I don't want you to get hurt."
I adjusted to make myself comfortable "Thanks Vin, i never thought i would be this vulnerable. ever. I thought that I couldn't feel anything anymore. I trained myself so hard to not have any emotions. not get attached to anything or anyone, but here you come along, my partner, and try to be friends with me. You have slowly been breaking that wall, allowing yourself inside. But back at the house with Athens, i don't know i kinda broke, now that I think about it I was doing what I usually needed to do when I was training my emotions. When i would get angry, depressed, stressed, anything. I would fly up as high as I could and fall, then before I reached the same height as the tallest building I would catch myself and fly along the sky."
As I talked and talked, I realized that Vincent had never looked so focused before. He was paying attention with such depth that I had to stop. I looked at him and even laughed a little.
"What's so funny?" He said a little embarrassed
"Your so engrossed in how I trained to be an assassin, i just find it comforting that someone would care that much to listen to all of it in such depth, as it's not a happy story."
"I just don't want you to feel alone"
I turned to him, "Vincent... you are the only friend I have ever had. I just wanted to say thank you."
Vincent looked so happy. Then without warning he scooped me up into a big hug.
"Whoaaa, careful there Vin, my legs still kinda hurt."
"Sorry, i-uh i'm just really happy that you finally realised that you need other people to be happy." Vincent said as he put my back on the makeshift bed. "So, how did you sleep on this bed of stone?"
"I slept well, but I had this really weird dream."
"Oh?"
As I started my story he went back into full focus mode, some parts he looked really worried and when i finally described the unknown man his face went white.
"Vin...do you know who that guy is?"
"Uh-i-uh um... n-no just sounds like someone I know but he wouldn't be interested in you... no way" vincent whispered the last part but i heard it anyways.
"oh...ok " I said trying to trust him. "Can we just sit here for a bit? I like the view."
"Yeah, sure. Whatever you wanna do. This break is about you after all."
I leaned my head on his shoulder as we looked out into the bright forest.
