The sounds of broken glass caught the attention of the family and the father quickly turned to the messenger who came to warn them. "Get to cover!" he shouted. The son ushered his mother and younger sister toward the back of the house and soon ran back to his father. The smell of smoke soon filled the house and the young girl started crying. "Mommy! Where's Arin and Father?" Her mother looked at her daughter and slowly rubbed her little girl's cheek. "Don't worry my pup, they are protecting us." Soon the sounds of shouting reached them and fire started spreading. The mother tried to put up a protective barrier and the little girl shut her eyes tight while the sounds of shouting came closer.
Sem's eyes shot open and she stared up at the curtain that was draped over her bed. She touched her face and wiped her wet face. The moonlight shone through the windows of her room which kept her awake. She threw the blanket off her and got off her bed. She looked out the window for a bit looking at the moonlight touching the roofs of the barracks that were near the Hall taking in the tranquil night. She rubbed her face and tried to push back the nightmare she just escaped. She turned and looked at her jewelry box and slowly made her way over to where it was. She opened it and the silver bracelet that she had received from the merchant shined in the moonlight. She felt a strange sensation from it and tried to see if there was something with the jade charm that was attached to the bracelet. She had never been to the Eastern Realm before but heard many things of it. Her hair that was let down after the long day blocked the moonlight from her face. She moved her hair and pushed it behind her ear. She put the bracelet away and looked at her mother's ring. She slowly brushed the emerald jewel that sat in the middle and took a deep breath. "Mother," she whispered. She felt like something was caught in her throat and she slowly closed her jewelry box. She sat on her bed and reached for the book that was under her pillow. After the message that Asten had written, she didn't quite understand what happened after she read the book. It was a similar sensation that she had when she held the Ring previously. But she pushed off the feeling... she soon felt her tiredness coming back to her after pacing back and forth and rereading the message over and over again.
Semmie woke to the sound of knocking on her door and soon the following steps of what she assumed was Margot coming in to wake her. "Princess..." She shot her eyes open and looked up at the voice. It was Bridget in her full Knight attire. "Oh no, please don't tell me...I missed the new knight's ceremony..." Bridget smiled. "No, I would've something to tease you with but I know how much we love to see the new knights so I wouldn't do that to you." Sem laughed and moved the hair out of her face. "Okay, let me get ready. Do you know where Margot is?" She nodded. "She was the one who was knocking earlier...if you heard it" She replied with a smile on her face. Margot's head popped out from the side of the open door. "Milady, are you up?" Sem nodded in response and got out of bed.
Margot attached the last bit of golden armor onto Sem. She looked at herself in the mirror and smiled. "It's so rare for me to wear the formal armor. I love the knighting ceremony!" She excitedly clapped. As much as she loved wearing those dresses, she loved wearing the armor more. It reminded her of her father and Arin. She smiled fondly at the thought. "Princess." Margot and Sem both looked at where the voice was coming from. Tanner stood at the door smiling. "You're looking very authoritative Princess." He said while examining her. She chuckled and replied. "Thank you, Head Knight. I look forward to the new knights that will be joining our ranks." He nodded in agreement. "I do have a surprise for you Princess." Her eyes sparkled at the word. "Surprise?" Sem had to stop herself from jumping up and down. "Since, it is your birthday, your father decided it was best for you to lead the knighting ceremony today." Her eyes shot open and she yelled out. "REALLY?! HE HAS?!" She got so excited. She always loved the knighting ceremony but was only ever allowed to watch from the side, besides the time that she got knighted. "Yes," He chuckled to himself and adjusted a piece of his armor. "Your father decided you should start being a part of it since you are heir to the throne." Her smile faltered a bit but she tried not to let Tanner see it. "Yes, well tell Father I should be ready soon." She bowed to Tanner to dismiss him and he bowed back in response. She looked at herself in the mirror and stared back at the reflection of the brown-eyed girl who stared back at her. She bit her bottom lip and then stood straight. "I'm ready Margot." She smiled softly at Sem. "Yes, ma'am you are." She bowed and Sem stepped down from the small platform and headed for the door.
