The Unveiling

Jav walked the halls with his usual party trailing behind him. Tanner was talking to one of the knights about security detail for the unveiling soon to happen. Jav tried to move his mind away from what had been bugging him. The big main thing standing in his way of placing Sem on the throne was the fact that they don't know the thing that could make her stand out with her powers. Usually the Crown Prince would showcase their unique powers by 9, but with Sem as the first Crown Princess and not having any unique powers it would be a power struggle for her on the throne. Sem had some healing elements and such. An excellent fighter in all weaponry and excels in all things girls her age usually learn. Like how to sew, playing instruments. Since she came to him at the age of 8 he hadn't learned anything of her powers. He knows that Derryl was a master of ironworks which made him really popular with any weapons. Which was one of the reasons why he became a Head Knight in the first place. Jessimae, was known her healing powers which is what he assumed Sem had inherited. Usually by the age of 8 those with parents that have magic start showcasing what magic they have. For the past 10 years he had been trying to see if Sem knew. But to her it was still a mystery as well. She could do basic spells and use melody crystals like any other magic users but never discovered what her unique magic was.

Tanner tapped Jav out of his daze. "Sire" Jav looked back at Tanner. "Yes? What is it?" Jav looked behind him. It was just him and Tanner now. The others had already been sent away. "Would you like to rest in your room until the unveiling or would you like to roam the grounds." Jav remembered the beautiful gardens he had always been fond of. "I think I may wonder around those gardens. Tanner bowed. "I will leave you be. If you need me please let me know. I will wait for your signal." Jav nodded his head and Tanner bowed and left quietly. Jav remembered the last time he was here. It had been almost 6 years since the last time he was here. He followed the hall he was still traveling until he found a familiar door. He pushed it open and saw the garden that was in bloom with the summer air. The fountain was spouting out water that glittered in the sun. He followed the trail of gardenia's that was still there from when he last visited. He leaned in to take in the familiar smell.

Jav followed the trail down to a hidden place in the garden. When he was younger, he and his brothers would play in this area. He found door of the hidden area. It looked as if the Ring had preserved it almost as a reminder of his brothers. The white table with the chairs that had black paint smeared on there. He remembers his mother scolding him and his brothers about ruining the beautiful chair that was there. He sat in the chair and took a deep breath. So many sad yet wonderful memories lingered here. He asked for his wife's hand in marriage here. She loved this hidden area. He was already King by the time he had met her. She was unlike any others he had met. She cared not for his status and the fact that he had adopted Sem. She understood the promise between him and Derryl. Not only that but she loved Sem as if she were her own daughter. He smiled wearily at the memories. So many lingering memories. He suddenly heard her voice. He suddenly stood up and looked around and saw her. His beautiful wife was admiring the gardenias'...it was like that day again. Was he going crazy? Or was someone playing a trick on him. "Tanner" he whispered. The door for the hidden area opened. "Sire, you called for me." Tanner looked at Jav. "Is something wrong sire?" Jav put his hand up. "Do you see that?" Tanner looked confused for a second and then shock hit him. "How...?" Jav looked at Tanner. "I am puzzled as well...was there anyone around here doing something? Some manipulation magic?" Tanner shook his head. "I didn't notice any-'' Tanner's eyes grew in shock. "Sire...I did feel a surge of power but I wasn't quite sure whether or not you just released your hold for a brief moment on yours..." Jav shook his head. "As much as my guard is down when we are here I wouldn't release my hold if I was by myself...plus I didn't feel this what you were talking about...unless...I assumed it was the Ring. It usually has its surges." Jav walked closer to Tanner. "Have you checked on the princess?" Tanner shook his head. "Go, check on her...but don't rouse any suspicion." Tanner nodded and quickly left.
