A/N: Hey guys or whoever's reading this. My love of P5 and attraction to Akira/Ren/Joker/my Persona bae of all time has made me start this short story.

Three parts. And long ones too.

UPDATE: This story has been republished and this part was so long so I split it up. Well, this story is just three parts. So yeah.

I own nothing of Persona (if only I could so I can have him all to myself) but I hope you enjoy!

You are a fan of the Phantom Thieves of Heart.

Okay, scratch that.

You are a HUGE fan! Even if they're just a myth, story, fairy tale, etc.

It all started with the incidents in Japan, then that fan site popping up online. Everyone thought it was just a big hoax. Until these supposed Phantom Thieves became a big deal. They were the talk of the world. Then, one day, it all went silent. As if all the chaos surrounding them and Japan were all wiped away. Cleared up. Forgotten. Everyone moved on to other things. And the Phantom Thieves?

Well, people say they disappeared. Some say they were actual people posing as thieves of justice. Or whatever people want to say to explain this strange, crazy story. Even in your hometown, people moved on from it and on with their lives.

But there was still a loyal following; fan club, websites, fan art, videos and more all dedicated to them. They were even accounts of people actually seeing the group in person.

Real or fake, in the end, you still believed in them. You always have. You love all of them. Skull, Panther, Fox, Queen, Oracle, Noir, Mona, and Joker.

For some reason, your mind drifted back to the time when you attended sophomore year at Shujin Academy in Japan during a student exchange program. And yes, you did attend one; for the experience as well as the boost on college applications. Anyway, you remembered you joining the class a while before the new transfer student did.

Akira Kurusu; you thought.

Everyone dubbed him as a troublemaker due to him being on probation. While everyone looked at him with disdain, you didn't. He never looked like someone who could do a harmful thing.

Luckily, you weren't the only one. You saw him around school with four other schoolmates; add two more when you saw the group sometimes on outings with the family you stayed with the whole year; a sweet couple.

Out of all of them, Akira drew your attention the most. His quiet, polite demeanor. Also radiating intellect in your classes together, charisma when you heard him with his group near the vending machines outside, and killer reflexes during gym. He was always full of surprises. You finally got the chance to talk to him when your English class had to do a pair up assignment and you got paired with Akira. He was sweet and nice, confirming your belief that he was so not what everyone calls him. When you asked him about that, he brushed it off saying it didn't bother him and you felt his honesty. After the assignment was done, he wanted to hang out with you.

From that moment on, you were happy that you finally have social links of your own! Because you were a foreigner, you didn't really know anyone and didn't like the ones attending the academy, seeing mostly everyone as stuffy, shallow and typical stereotypes judging everyone they looked at as not normal.

Not Akira. He never looked at you like that; his cobalt eyes showed nothing but warmth at you. He and his friends all did. They were the only friends you made during your stay and you were glad.

However, a lot happened in that year. Mental shutdowns. Changes of hearts. The Phantom Thieves. It was a whirlwind of madness and your memories of those moments were foggy and you couldn't remember much. Except when the year ended, you had to travel back home. Saying good-bye to your friends and waving farewell as you got on the plane. Seeing the teary eyed faces of them as they yelled your name, waving their arms back at you. Your heart clenching as you saw Morgana; Akira's pet cat, leaning his head back as he meowed farewell, while Akira's glasses got shady as his face was unreadable.

You wondered ... Akira, while a sweet bespectacled guy, was capable of being more than meets the eyes. Like how you at times noticed him giving off an ever knowing look in the eyes and a sly grin when he was thinking deeply on something or when you two talked about of something – anything really – and him taking the lead making you admire how strong and convincing his voice sounded. It was like there was Akira Kurusu; your classmate, and someone else hidden underneath that mask. Could he maybe be ...?

You smiled, cuddling the chibi Joker doll to your chest as you fell back in your bed.

Joker; your favorite Phantom Thief of them all.

If Akira and Joker were the same person, it wouldn't be surprising as it would be awesome!

But sadly, you didn't hear much about either guys since the Phantom Thieves stopped being mainstream a while after you left Japan. And although you exchanged numbers and email with all your friends, you rarely heard anything from them. That bummed you out more than anything.

Your life right now, you didn't have much to look forward to. Not many friends when you came back to finish high school, you moved out of your home after you graduated to start fresh somewhere else, and not much of a love life either. Mainly because you preferred fictional guys over real ones; they were more compassionate and better looking not to mention genuine. Preferably a masked vigilante who once stole people's hearts.

As you looked out your bedroom window from your own place, you pondered on three things.

What ever happened to the Phantom Thieves?

Why did your friends just went blip out of your life?

And ... how come you feel a strange alien feeling pull inside your heart?

A/N: Republishing this, ugh. Oh well, October draws near and I got another part to republish. So, expect that right away.

And, for those that have heard or read my last A/N on Duel Links, I do need a change from that. So, to those that are reading this story, thanks.

Until next time!
