She was of those people that moved a lot when she sleeps. I’ve known that for a while now since she’d slept over a lot. By the time we parked into my aunt’s driveway the back of her head was pressed against the window and her legs were draped over mine. Her face was nuzzled in my neck and her arms were draped over my shoulders. Everyone had left the car by the time I stopped staring at her while she slept. It might’ve been a good five minutes.
I mean how could I? She was beyond beautiful even when she was sleeping.
Her bronze hair looked beautiful in this fall weather; the contrast of her hair and the colorful leaves. Her mouth was slightly opened and her light snores filled the tiny car. She looked younger; she looked like the girl I met when I was 9.
I pushed her hair that had fallen over her face. Her eyes fluttered open revealing her big green eyes. She smiled before looking around the room, realizing that everyone else left.
“Where did everyone else go?”
“They’re inside, come on they’re waiting for us.”
She got off my lap and adjusted the cardigan on her shoulders and grabbing her little purse before slipping out of the car. She stood there, waiting for me to get out. I walked over to her and nodded my head over the front door and she followed next to me as we made our way into the house.
When we made it in it was warm. And the smell of food filled out noses and I knew I wouldn’t make it out of this house without having a stomachache and you not being able to button up your pants. Aunt Marie seriously made the best food, that’s why everyone always made her make the turkey at thanksgiving.
We walked into the living room where everyone was sitting around the table eating peacefully. Aunt Marie must’ve heard the door open because she walked through with two plates of her famous pasta. There were two seats empty by the edge of the table, which I was assuming as our seats because she set the plates down. She walked over to me and kissed my cheek sweetly before turning over to Nadia.
“Luke, who’s your friend?” she grinned widely.
“This is Nadia, my best friend.” I said ruffling Nadia’s hair a little like I always did when we were younger. She instantly smacked my hand away like old times making me laugh.
“Well Nadia,” she started “I hope you like pasta.” Nadia giggled before sitting down in the chair next to me.
