We were pretty cornered by guards from the side of us. They were behind us when we tried to get out of the room. The guards pointed guns at us, we had our hands up in the air.
"So, you attempted to leave work early I see? A boss would be delightfully angry with his employers if one caught them. Words can not comprehend how dissatisfied I am with you all. Even you young man."
I turn my head to the side with anger. We were really close, but now this is the dead-end. I failed Maria, just like I knew I would.
Then, a loud bang and smoke appear in the room, I can't see anything, Someone grabs my hand and leads me out of the room, it was Desmond!
"Alright, kid." He said as we ran. "We need to split up with your parents and find a way out of here, we'll catch up with them later!"
"We can't just leave them behind! We got to help them!"
"Look, buddy if there's anything I know, it's that your parents are basically geniuses, that might be an overstatement but trust me it's truer than anything as far as I know. They can handle themselves."
I still don't know why I trust him but I still don't have any choice here. We ran really fast, we had to risk running into people. Eventually, we ran into Clarissa.
DESMOND!!! WHAT IN THE WORLD ARE YOU DOING?!"
"Uh, there's no time to explain uh uh uh, we got to go so uh see you never I guess. LOVE YOU!"
That was something but our lives are on the line. We can't risk getting into something like that.
We ran into a group of guards in the hall... They slowly turned around as we tried to sneak away.
"YOU TWO! STOP RIGHT THERE!"
We didn't stop. We end up at another Alpha place called "Ark". There was another steel door.
"NO, WE WON'T BE ABLE TO OPEN IT IN TIME." Desmond says as he tries to open the door.
The guards found us. We're done for.
They cuff us up and take us to a room farther away from the entrance.
I failed you, Maria.
They take the cuffs off and throw us in the room that looks like it's as something from an insane asylum. It was a room with only wooden seats. The door closes and the only thing I do is bang and kick it. Desmond told me to stop, so I sat down on the floor.
"Great... Just as I thought. I failed to protect Maria, I failed to escape with my family. I can't do anything right without it turning bad. What kind of son even am I? A horrible one at best."
"Woah Woah Woah buddy calm down alright?! You're not a fault here. Don't beat yourself up for that alright?"
"NO, you don't get it! I was NEVER strong enough to do this!! I'm weak, that's not hard to see! I will never be able to change that!"
Desmond sighs. He pulls something out of his pocket... It's an onion.
He takes a bite from it."Y'know bud, life has doesn't have a whole lot of expecting stuff to it. It's pretty difficult too, and hard to explain." He says taking another bite.
"I knew that already..."
"But... Things change, you'll experience life-changing events, and you learn from them. It's hard to let go but, life will change."
I just couldn't agree with that. How could anyone, anywhere think that's true?
"For example uhhhhh... Life is like er, it's like onions!"
