[Chapter 9] Whatever It Takes

The screen was on, the consoles were on, and the Penguin of TWICE is also on.

"Baam!" Mina shot up and raised her hands triumphantly. "That's what I'm talkin' about!"

Nayeon sighed defeatedly. "Whatevs. You take the W, Minari."

The others just stared at Mina.

Mina sat back down. "Who wants to play next?" She asked.

Jeongyeon blinked. "You mean, who wants to be beaten next?"

Mina frowned and shook her head. "What? No. I won't be playing this time."

"Oh, yeah? Then what would you be doing?" Momo snorted. "As if you would put your consoles down and do something other than your beloved XBox."

Mina shrugged and pointed at Chaeyoung who was playing Legos with the two other kids. "Play with Chaeng." And with that, she put the console down and crawled to where the kids were and played with them.

The other unnies stared at her wide eyed. Mina was never known for putting down her consoles for anything.

"Well..." Sana glanced at the consoles on the floor and picked one up. "Who wants to play with me?"

"I will." Jihyo picked the other and sat beside Sana.

"Game on." Sana smirked at the leader.

Meanwhile, Chaeyoung forgot all about the Legos and decided to play with Mina instead.

"Mina-unnie, stop!" Chaeyoung made out between giggles. Mina was currently tickling her, and the little cub cannot stop laughing. "Stop it!"

Mina laughed too. "Okay, okay, I'll stop." She stopped tickling Chaeyoung and just handed her a penguin stuffed toy.

"Unnie, I will name this toy Mina!" Chaeyoung suddenly said as she smiled at the penguin plushie.

Mina glanced at the toy. "Why is that?"

"It looks like you, unnie." Chaeyoung gave her a big gummy smile. "Cute."

Mina pulled Chaeyoung to her and backhugged her. "You are cuter, Chaeng."

Chaeyoung giggled. "Unnie, when I grow up, I wanna be a zookeeper."

"Why?"

"Because I can take care of penguins in the zoo, and I'll see and feed lots of animals, like lions and tigers and alligators and everything!" She spread her arms wide to emphasize what she's meaning to say.

"T-that's great, Chaeyoungie." Mina said, but her smile ceased a little. The thing Chaeyoung said made her remember of their problem on how to turn them back to normal.

"What if we can't turn them back to normal?" Mina thought. "Would they stay like this forever and grow up and not remember how we used to be when we were together as TWICE members?"

She didn't notice that a tear already fell from her eye just thinking of that.

"Unnie, why are you crying?" Chaeyoung asked.

Mina quickly wiped the tear of her face and gave Chaeyoung a smile. "No, I'm not crying."

"Okay." Chaeyoung said, but she looked unconvinced. She returned on playing with the other kids.

Mina walked back and sat at the sofa beside Nayeon. She sighed.

"Why?" Nayeon asked. "What's the problem?"

"I was just thinking..." Mina paused, glancing again at the children. "What if we can't turn them back to normal? Would they just stay as kids and grow up as a normal person one day? I can't do it if they would just forget our times together before they turned to kids."

Nayeon put her arm around Mina and rested her head on her shoulder. "Don't worry, Mina. We can find a solution to this, and we will. We won't let the maknaes stay like this forever. Whatever it takes."

Mina gave her a little smile. "Whatever it takes."

Nayeon's phone rang and interrupted everyone from what they're doing. She grabbed her phone from the table and gasped when she saw who texted.

"Why?" Jihyo asked.

"Who is it?" Momo said.

Nayeon bit her lip and stared at her bandmates.

"JYP-nim texted me. He's asking why we aren't practicing. He's coming over to check on us."
