Over the following hour, as the two headed for the hills and the safety of Ryan's family cabin, he brought Michelle up to speed on the day's events. At least to the best of his knowledge. Mike was dead. So too Lexi. BioChem wasn't the place he thought. Jenkins and Falconi pulling the strings with ambitions far beyond what even Ryan could have ever envisaged. He had to figure what the hell was going on, but the priority now was staying alive long enough to do that.

The cabin was a hidden gem though. Tucked away in the Nova Hills; no WiFi, no electricity, no running water, this was one hell of place to be if you wanted to get off the grid.

As Michelle sat down on the sofa, she quickly fell into a deep sleep. Ryan looked at her lovingly. Even when sleeping, she was the most vibrant, beautiful and enchanting woman on the planet. He had always loved her and she had always known it. They first met at Kindergarten as friends, then onto High School as lovers, and finally into their College years as soulmates. With Michelle by his side, he felt complete.

The cabin was dark and sleepy, and Ryan felt his eyes closing as his weary body finally gave in.
