No Sangeili has ever claimed that being underneath the Covenant is an easy, and rewarding choice.
Break the boundaries that are hidden to the blind eye, and pay the price.
These lines are never taught to any soldier, under and race, under any rank.
You are made an example of.
No matter who you may be.
The lowest of the low.
The easily swayed dog.
Or the highest of all your race.
Ar army.
Not ecen the Admiral was safe from the stinging truth f the tyranny of the Heirarchs, and their twisted customs.
He too, falls victim to the horrid truth of his sworn duty of his people, and fellow comrades.
Yet, the price of his opinions were greater than he could manage to keep speaking the words that would soon silence all he had left.
He'd already lost his dear, sweet Vexa.
His white jewel.
He was damned if he would allow them to strip him of his daughter, the last thing she ever gave him.
No matter the cost to keep her safe, and alive.
The one thing he craved more than any title.
He knew he could not run with her.
He'd threaten her life if he did.
The pain of her being gone, away from him, was bearable compared to if he'd been forced to watch her be put to death.
Being marked with Shame was enough.
On his knees, he wept, child in arms, not separating his forehead from her small, decorative one.
He couldn't hold back the pain he still felt inside, knowing he'd never be able to witness the transformation of his beautiful daughter into what he knew would be an accomplished, fire driven, young female, probably married to a strong, war raised male that'd treat her as if she were a queen, watching her fight with valiance, and pride.
He'd only watch her leave, only a year old, and have the shame on himself that he'd followed the same custom he swore he wouldn't follow of not letting his kin know of his existence, that he would be there every step.
He knew that his son would, yet it was his daughter he wanted to be with the most.
But...
She'd be with those he trusted the most.
He stood and had gone to the Phantom, where his Arch Admiral, and longest blinded friend.
His mate had stepped to him first, waiting to receive the child.
With grief tearing at his hearts, he hesitantly handed the child to her, his head lowering as he fought his sadness.
The female had reached her hand to his jaw, and promised him that she'd not let a thing happen to his daughter, soothing him further.
His Arch Admiral then approached him, embracing him as well, giving his wears as well to train her to her finest edge.
He then looked down to his son, as well as his Arch Admiral's son.
He knelled down to the two, young males, and had given a sigh of regret, and strife.
"I wish to one day see you two become excellent soldiers..." He looked back up to the small child, then back to them.
"Do I have your word that you will be her brothers, her sword, and her shield?"
The two nodded to him, assertive in their stance.
He had embraced both males, and stood, taking a step back, filling his lungs with air.
As he turned to leave, his daughter soon turned upset, making him rush back to her, taking a hand, and holding her face as she touched foreheads with her again, quietly sobbing, and apologizing that he wasn't better, that he couldn't protect her, nor her brother.
She immediately settled, which sparked an idea in his head.
He slowly stood straight, and had taken off cloak, and put it around the child, his scent soothing her back into a calm state.
Taking the child for a mere second to put her into the cloak itself, he stopped, frozen in place as she grabbed his fore-claw, tearing a hole through him, yet he couldn't help but smile shakily at her.
"You'll be the finest warrior to ever walk among mortal's, my little, beautiful Syrri..." He cried, handing her back, stepping away from her, and stood beside his War Brother.
"...Promise me, she'll be safe. That she'll be strong."
He shared a smile with him, for what felt like the last time.
"You're her father... She'll be nothing short of the Sangheili I came to know, Xytan... I assure you, that." They gave one another nod before he watched them board Phantom, and went to the heirarchs, saying that he'd rid of them, and that they'd have no more problems from him...
For as long as it would fool them...
