Hotaru Shirogane had never expected to find her brother after his disappearance. She never willed him to come back, though she wished she did. She remembers grieving, crying to the point she can't feel her chest or see. But then life resumed, just like normal. With the flood of responsibility of picking up her brother's mantel, she tries her hardest to become the best pilot at the Galaxy Garrison.
When Pidge Gunderson bumps into her in the hallway one day, with a shocked look on his face, she can tell he's not entirely what he lets on. Her curiosity gains her a great many answers, such as that Pidge Gunderson is actually ʇloH ǝıʇɐ⋊, and that he is also a family member of missing Kerberos personnel. The two have more in common than they realize.
Pidge introduces the girl to her flight team, with very little intel on them Hotaru manages to get their names before the period is over. But unfortunately, She caught something else from one of them. A virus, she's got butterflies at all times, constantly feeling like her cheeks are on fire, and then there's the way her heart skips.
Lance McClain had seen a great many girls in his time on earth, fancied a few of them even. But when a pilot drops her tray next to Pidge's at their lunch period and takes her seat, he can't help but stare. But when she introduces herself, he could have sworn he blacked out. It would be just his luck, that Takashi Shirogane's little sister would sit right in front of him, and he didn't even know she existed.
It's sloppy attempts at flirting, hurried glances, and brushing hands. He can't stop this one, can't seem to chase her off with pickup lines. He doesn't want to chase her off, but he also has no idea what comes next. That is until he catches Hotaru and Pidge out on the roof.
With an entire game-changer between the two, it's a struggle to keep their feelings in check. He finds that no matter what he does, he can't seem to get the message across. She's in her own world and avoiding him in it. They hardly talk to each other, and it seems like the distance gets greater every day.
Can they ensure the security of their relationship, before it crumbles into dust?
