He sits in a run-down bar with a full glass of Joel Gott Rosé. Tonight, he can afford to savor a bottle or three. It's not like he has anything better to do.
The twenty-two-year-old doesn't dare look at his reflection. He knows he'll only end up disappointed.
Shoulders slumped, John tilts the summer flavored drink, stirring it with a straw.
A shadow takes over the young man's hazy vision. A shadow with broad shoulders and a dark fleece jacket. Looking down at the completely inebriated boy, it sighs, propping John up before ordering a Coke and a whiskey.
Head resting on the counter, John observes through lidded eyes as the shadow stares at his soda idly, a furious internal battle taking hold about whether to just dump the cola into the whiskey or mix them in a glass. Before mixing, he looks at the Coke can thoughtfully, pouring most and placing the rest in front of John. That is his only acknowledgment.
Something about the shadow is so familiar... John can't tell if it's the curly brown hair or the off-colored eyes.
He looks like...
He looks like- "Sammy?"
The shadow pauses in the middle of his sip. "I don't know what the hell you're talking about. My name is Michael."
God, was he hammered. "I think you know exactly what I'm talking about."
"Say that name again and I'll make sure you don't remember a thing about tonight." Both of them realize at the same time how wrong that sounds, and Michael looks away, face burning. Still, John can't miss the new gleam that's shown up in the older man's eyes.
"Bloody- God, John, move over. You're taking up the whole countertop." Calloused fingertips nudged his chin, making the young man flinch before scootching. The familiar smell of Coke and whiskey take over, and his pulse quickened. "Haven't seen you in a while."
"Been busy," John mumbles.
Smirking, Michael takes a surprisingly delicate sip.
(Can't tell if I'm 100% on board with this whole Michael Emily theory thing, but it does make nice Mike x John fodder
