I woke up, with the sun peeping through a hole in the tent. I looked around and didn't see Luke anywhere.
I sighed, pulling the covers off me, remembering what happened yesterday. I hope he forgot about everything. Or at least ignores it.
I found a brush lying next to me, so I took it and brushed my wavy, dark hair until it was free of tangles. When I got out of the tent, I saw most of the class outside, talking, having fun. Mr. Jay was making breakfast for everyone, and a couple of groups were helping him.
I yawned, and made my way to where everyone was huddled around a fire, escaping the morning weather. I sat next to Luke, the only empty spot I could find, and crossed my arms in attempt to get warm.
"Good morning." I heard him whisper.
"Morning." I replied, also whispering, not knowing why, though.
"You cold?" He asked.
"It's pretty chilly outside, yeah."
"I can't change the weather, sorry."
Jackass Luke is back.
"Then why'd you ask?"
"Just wanted to say that." He chuckled, running a hand through his hair. I rolled my eyes knowing he won't change.
"I need to ask you for something.." I started off, kind of awkwardly.
"What is it?"
"Well two things. First, can you please just..forget everything that happened last night?"
"Why?"
"Why wouldn't you want to?"
"I saw something not many people get to see. A different side of you."
"Oh. Well then, to the second thing. Can I please borrow a shirt from you? I'm sorry if I'm bothering you too much, but I feel gross with this shirt still on."
"Yeah, sure you can borrow a shirt."
"Really?"
"Yes, now go before breakfast is ready."
"Okay mom." I snickered and walked to the tent. I found a random shirt laying on the ground and threw it on. I noticed it had Led Zeppelin on it, and smiled. At least he had some sense in music.
I ran back to where the breakfast was already set up, and people were already eating. By now, everyone from the class was awake and talking to their friends.
I sat by Luke again and my stomach grumbled out of nowhere. I heard him chuckle and rolled my eyes.
"We're all hungry. We just have different ways of showing it." It was a statement indirectly meant for Luke. He ate like a pig.
"Well excuse me, I'm not the one who ate a whole bag of doritos yesterday."
"And proud of it." I smiled, and started eating. Most of us were silent during breakfast, others still had things to talk about.
"So, this might bother you, but uh, why exactly were you crying last night?" Luke started, and a weird feeling came over. I wanted to tell him, but I'd probably annoy him with all my unstable emotions.
"I'm sorry, I have to go." I said, and walked back to the tent. I was glad I ate something, because I wouldn't have gotten up if I was still hungry.
I entered the tent, and sat down, grabbing a book out of my backpack to read. I was so lost in the book that I didn't even notice Luke coming in. He sighed, and plopped down beside me.
"Too personal?" He asked.
"Little bit, yeah." I was happy that he didn't push it.
"Hey, listen. I'm sorry if you got offended. I won't try anything again."
"It's alright." I answered, "I should've been more careful anyway."
"What's that supposed to mean?"
"Well, it's supposed to mean that men have the tendency to be whores just as much as some women do, so I just have to look out for myself."
"Excuse me? Is it my fault that you're fucking gorgeous?"
Oh.
"Fuck this, never mind." He shook his head, and left the tent.
