* Carmen's POV *

Christopher, griffin, and Payton follow us with their weapons in their waistbands. We get in my Jeep and head to food lion. There is a big sign saying everything is free until tomorrow after the purge. We get out and I lock my doors. We make our way inside but before we do I stop them.

" listen guys, we need to be quick. Here." I say handing each of them and ear piece causing them to turn it on as I put mine in and turn it on
" you are seriously a bad ass." Griffin says playfully punching my shoulder causing me to laugh
" everyone split up and grab a basket." I say grabbing a basket and passing men and women staring at us like they are waiting for the alarm.

I go to the chip isle and grab a bag of barbecue, sour cream, classic, and spicy sweet chili Doritos ( the purple bag ). I grab a family pack of mega stuffed Oreos as well.

" is anyone near the lunch ables?" I ask through the ear piece
" yeah princess, what would you like? And does anyone else want some?" Jaden says causing me to blush
" two nacho and two cheesy pizza lunch ables please" I say innocently
" mkay princess, see you soon" Jaden says making my heart flutter

I grab things that looks needed on the way. I grab a big bag of rice I can make later. I go down another isle but freeze when I hear the one thing I didn't want to hear fill the store.

" this is not a test. this is your emergency broadcast system announcing the commencement of the Annual Purge sanctioned by the U.S. Government. Weapons of class 4 and lower have been authorized for use during the Purge. All other weapons are restricted. Government officials of ranking 10 have been granted immunity from the Purge and shall not be harmed. Commencing at the siren, any and all crime, including murder, will be legal for 12 continuous hours. Police, fire, and emergency medical services will be unavailable until tomorrow morning at 7 am, when the Purge concludes. Blessed be our New Founding Fathers and America, and nation reborn. May god be with you all."

" guys, hurry the fuck up. Everyone get into pairs. I can be by myself, I am best trained. Don't argue with me either, and remember.. try not to kill, just disable." I say jogging putting salt in the basket.
" goddamnit, be careful Carmen. Jaden I'm heading your way." Christopher says before I ignore whatever they said next

I hear someone turning the corner causing me to pull out my taser. A woman's voice screams in the isle beside mine making me jump.

" I'm going to take you with me." A man says slurring his words
" n-no please!" Her voice sobs as a baby starts crying
" SHUT THE FUCK UP!" He yells causing me to flinch
" NO NOT MY BABY!!" She sobs causing him to groan.
" I will find someone else. You are so fucking annoying." He says before a gun shot is heard and all you can hear is the baby crying.

I sneak over and look in the isle. A infant is wrapped in a blanket in a mans arms as blood pours out of the moms head. The man is walking away from her. I pull out my pistol getting pissed.

" give me the baby." I hiss causing him to turn around and see me aiming my gun at him
"damn you are finee, alright little lady. You're coming with me." He says walking forwards towards me and the dead body and baby
" fuck you." I say before pulling the trigger.

I shot him between the eyes, I watch him fall to the ground. I pick the baby up and cradle her in my arms. I grab the women's diaper bag and see what all she has in it. I need formula, fuck. What is everyone going to say. I don't give a fuck.

" Guys...meet me on isle 7" I say as I shush the baby by putting a pacifier in her mouth. I grab the diaper bag and basket while holding the baby with my free arm.
