four: "mission impossible"

Peter began to stutter. His ex-girlfriend was in the same room with him. "Hey-y. How's life? Heard you had a birthday party, that's nice." He said with a shaky voice.

"Peter, my birthday isn't until October." Davina mumbled at him. She stood quietly next to adam, clearly not prepared for this situation. She cleared her throat. "So what's this mission? Or do we need introductions?" She asked fury

Fury glared at her before turning to peter. "There, we have maria hill. This is Dimitri, these two, you already know, one of them being your ex-girlfriend."

"Young love, huh?" Davina sighed.

"And this is Mr. Beck." Fury said as peter stated at him in awe.

"Mysterio?" Peter could not take his eyes off beck.

"What?" Beck asked confused.

Peter shook his head. "Doesn't matter. It's just what my friends have been calling you."

Beck nodded. "Well, you can call me quentin. You handled yourself well out there today. Saw what you did with the tower. We could've used someone like you on my world."

Beck's words clearly caught Davina and oeter off guard. There was a multiverse and she couldn't believe it. "I'm sorry... your world?" Peter asked.

Fury stepped in. "Mr. Beck is from earth, just not ours."

"There are multiple realities, peter. This is earth dimension six one six. I'm from earth eight three three." Beck explained.

"I'm sorry, you're saying theres a multiverse?" Peter asked excitingly.

"I've heard william james using the exact term, but in a different context. Erwin schrödinger warned that what he said seemed lunatic. This all seems very overwhelming, I need to take a nap." Davina rambled.

Beck looked at her and chuckled. "You broke up with her?"

"It's complicated. I think." Peter scratched the back of his head. "So the  multiverse, I thought that was just theoretical. I mean, that completely changes how we understand the initial singularity. We're talking about, an eternal inflation system. And how does that even how with all the quantum...it's insane!"

Peter stopped his talk about the multiverse when adam and maria stared at him. "Sorry, it's really cool." He apologized.

"Don't ever apologize for being the smartest one in the room." Beck's words made peter feel more relaxed. "Anyway, they were born in stable orbits. Within black holes, creatures formed from primary elements. Air, water, fire, earth. The science division has a technical name. We just call them elementals."

"Versions of then exist across our mythologies." Maria added.

"Well now myths are real." Davina sighed.

"Like thor. Thor was a myth, now I study him in my physics class." Peter said, keeping his eyes on the hologram in front of him.

"These myths, are now threats." Nick said.

"They first materialized on my earth many years ago. I was part of the last battalion left trying to stop them. All we did was delay the inevitable." Beck looked down at his feet in sadness. Peter looked away from beck, feeling bad for him.

"The elementals are here now. Attacking the same coordinates. Our satellites confirm it." Adam leaned against the wall and looked at peter.

"We have one mission, kill it."
